Yes I know our new cat will sleep on our beds/sofas and paper or fresh laundry just like our old cat did but humour me
What is your cats bed like? I like the donut shaped ones but I'm close to being conned by ridiculously expensive ones!

In over 35 years of cat ownership I have never bothered to buy a cat bed - the three of mine that are in at the moment have currently made their own beds on a coffee table, on the kitchen table and in a cardboard box.
Sorry - that hasn't answered your question Grin.

delilabell · 24/09/2019 16:27

Grumpy thay is exactly what I DONT want to here because it's what my husband would agree with!Grin

I got an ace one for fifteen quid from TKMaxx - it's an igloo, but it squashes down into a standard basket-style bed.

DP has just hit on the brilliant idea of putting it under the dining table, so she does actually sometimes go in it... Otherwise, my hiking boots, the laundry basket and the bookcase are all favourites. Hmm

I bought a fluffy donut cat bed and my medium sized dog sat on it more than she did.Grin

ScreamingValenta · 24/09/2019 16:31

Mine like an igloo in winter

dazzlinghaze · 24/09/2019 16:34

I got mine an igloo type one from B & M when she was little and she did love it initially but now she doesn't go near it. I've got her baby blanket folded on top of my high chest of drawers and she sleeps on that if she doesn't fancy the bed/back of the couch.

SmileCheese · 24/09/2019 16:35

I would but I didn't make it this morning and I don't really want to put a picture of my unmade bed on Mumsnet. Grin

In all seriousness I don't know any cats that actually sleep in a purpose brought bed. I know cats that sleep on top of the wardrobe, on the window ledge, in boxes, on bookshelves, behind the sofa and one who sleeps on the front door mat but none that sleep in a cat bed. I know its not what you wanted to hear but it really is a futile purchase. Smile

viccat · 24/09/2019 16:36

Mine like those igloo/cave type ones, they have a fluffy cat head shaped one from ZooPlus and a wool felt type one from Amazon. Most of the time though they sleep on their various cat trees - the ones with hammocks are particularly popular, but in general they prefer to be high up than on floor level.

madcatladyforever · 24/09/2019 16:38

My old gIrl has a large furry dog bed. She loves to stretch right out. Everyone laughs at the size of it but I have a king size bed to myself so why shouldn't she.

Yubaba · 24/09/2019 16:41

My cat sleeps on whichever bed has the warmest person in it, on the sofa, dh office chair or the garage roof if it’s a warm day.
She’s never slept in her ‘cat bed’ to despite me, because she obviously rules our house.

YobaOljazUwaque · 24/09/2019 16:47

My two are currently very happily snoozing one on each level on one of these attached to a south facing window as the sun streams in.

When it isn't sunny they share the top hammock on one of these

They do have a cat bed too but they never go in it.

sweetkitty · 24/09/2019 16:50

In our house one is currently asleep on DD3s bed, one in a cat bed on top of a vivarium in DD2s room (it’s warms) and one sprawled our on the playroom sofa.

Apologies for siding with your DH. Grin
I can confirm though that my DW has never shown any inclination to buy a cat bed either.

I have in the past vaguely considered a sheepskin rug for the cats (I suspect black cats would show up rather well on it) but I know if I did they wouldn't go near it out of spite anyway.

dementedpixie · 24/09/2019 16:52

Save your money and use shoe boxes!

dementedpixie · 24/09/2019 16:53

My 2 used to sleep in the top of the cat tree but now they never go up there. They like couches, beds, clean washing in the basket, window sills, doorways and shoe boxes

Snorg's Tipi. She also has a wicker igloo in my bedroom. cheddar occasionally uses cushions but prefers the sofa and my bed.

If you have IKEA Expedit shelves anywhere, I’ve seen some really cool cat beds that are designed to fit the cube spaces exactly.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/09/2019 19:10

Buy a dog bed. Cats like dog beds.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/09/2019 20:32

Sev has several sleeping places, for example:
a box on my desk
a shopping basket in DD room
our beds, sofas, chairs
He prefers to be as big a nuisance as he possibly can.
