Abandoned cat dilemma

The shop across the street from me closed and the tenants left their lovely little cat behind. They’re not answering the owner’s calls and he has new tenants coming in so she has to go. Refuges are all full so her future is bleak.

I lost my 18 year old cat in December and still miss him terribly but enjoy the freedom to travel without worrying about booking a sitter. Next trip is for a week in mid-August.

I was thinking about another cat but not so soon. If I don’t, she won’t have very long.
What would you do?

Yes take her. You need a cat in your life and she needs a home.

PocaNinja · 22/07/2019 21:33

Please take her! The holiday part does suck but I’m sure it’ll give you so much more back! Keep us informed and good luck!

PocaNinja · 22/07/2019 21:33

And we’ll done for being a good person!

userxx · 22/07/2019 21:35

Do you really need to ask......... you know the right thing to do.

Lunde · 22/07/2019 21:36

Take her.

2 of our 5 cats were abandoned locally (separate times) - one was close to death when he was brought into our house but has turned out to be a lovely cat in the decade we have owned him (even if he isn't the smartest cat)!

sweetkitty · 22/07/2019 21:37

Sounds like fate to me.

Cat sitters don’t cost that much Grin

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 22/07/2019 21:37

If you want people to say 'don't do it' then you have come to the wrong board.
This really sounds as if you have a new cat.Wink

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 22/07/2019 21:39

I don't like cats and even I think you found yourself a new one.

Congratulations!

EachandEveryone · 22/07/2019 21:42

Can you book a sitter uk.catinaflat.com/ are very reasonable. Good luck with your new cat 😄

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/07/2019 22:26

Take her, she can’t stay like that.

thecatneuterer · 23/07/2019 00:31

You really have no choice. Book her in the vets for neutering straight away too - the sort of people who abandon cats are the sort of people who don't neuter.

Lonecatwithkitten · 23/07/2019 03:26

The best cats are the ones that pitch up in your life when you least expect it.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 23/07/2019 04:10

You have a new cat.

Broken11Girl · 23/07/2019 04:14

Yep, you now have a cat Grin

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/07/2019 13:50

What did you decide OP?

SnowBrussels · 23/07/2019 13:56

Thanks everyone for your support!
I think I knew the litter tray wasn’t going to talk me out of it 😁.
I’m collecting her tomorrow and checking if my lovely cat sitter is available for the August dates. 😘

Well done OP - great news. You know you'll need to provide photos and updates Grin

EachandEveryone · 23/07/2019 16:12

Aw, where are you collecting her from? Please add photos!

Mia184 · 23/07/2019 20:46

That‘s wonderful! And we do need a photo Smile

sneakypinky · 23/07/2019 21:00

She's obviously your new cat! You don't get to decide, the cat chooses. Grin

Congratulations!

Photo??

SnowBrussels · 24/07/2019 14:14

We’re home. She just ventured out of the carrier and hid behind the sofa. Photo as soon as I can coax her out to eat!
