Really, cat?
We bought you toys-you’d rather play with toilet roll tubes.
We bought you two beds-your first choice is the window sill, unless of course there’s something we need to do then you sleep on us, and we just can’t bring ourselves to disturb you. The beds have had a cursory sniff and then been totally ignored. We even tried putting one on the window sill for you. You pushed it off.
It’s a good job you’re adorable

Aww gorgeous cat , lovely markings and I love the little stripey legs .

We decided not to buy a load of toys for ours but of course they've amassed some .

Pop up igloo tent
Bird toy on string
Pointer light (our male loves that)
Couple of toy mice
Scratching post/tower

Of course they're chasing ants and moths
Scratch the doormat
Sleep on the stairs

ppeatfruit · 05/07/2019 08:59

Try getting some catnip (you can buy it loose) and put it on their new beds, mine love it (one goes weirdly nuts, the other just sniffs and falls asleep on it)

Toddlerteaplease · 05/07/2019 09:42

My pair are clearly not cats. They sleep on all of their five beds. Snorg loves her teepee

Seriously??!!
ppeatfruit · 05/07/2019 12:02

I do like that teepee, I can see why your cats like it. They like that security. I wish I was clever with stuff like that it would easy for somebody to make.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/07/2019 12:20

@ppeatfruit it's from Lazy days pet beds. They do lovely beds. I use one as a cushion for me. It's huge and squishy

ppeatfruit · 06/07/2019 09:23

Thanks Toddler Grin

A bunch of bamboo sticks, string, clothes pegs and an old blanket works well if you ever went on Guide Camp

Lash three together to make a wonky triangle. Lash another two onto that to make a squareish base.

Lash two uprights together. Attach to one side of the base. Repeat for the other side. Join the top with another.

Shove old, hairy cushion (or whichever knackered jumper you have that they like sleeping on) inside. Drape blanket - or poncey fabric - over the top.

Use clothes pegs to secure.

Hide in corner of room.

Once TwatCat has discovered it, sneakily put a set of battery powered fairy lights on the top as per any Glastonbury Wanker.

Take photo. Because TwatCat will probably make a point of never using it in your presence ever again (but will live in it when you're out) but will give you a really hard time if you try and get rid of it because s/he 'isn't using it'.

Of course, the Sound Engineer side of my job means that the pretty string work rapidly gets replaced with Gaffer Tape, but the intention is still good.

Gingerkittykat · 09/07/2019 03:54

Cat 1 sleeps on coucg, chair or desk. I've got an assortment of fleecy and fluffy blankets and throws he loves.

Cat 2 sleeps on human bed, especially loves DDs dirty hoodies and washing basket and window sills.

They have had a few cat beds which never get used.

There was a radiator bed which was used constantly till they decided they didn't like it any more.

ppeatfruit · 09/07/2019 11:43

Thanks Mitzik I'll try that. Cats are definitely extremely fussy until they see an old shopping bag on the floor that they'll try to squeeze into. Our female housecat tried to sleep in one that I was using for recycling papers. I made a little pile for her with T cloths and old magazines on the floor would she use it? Nah Grin

CatNinja · 09/07/2019 12:05

My kids and I were looking at all sorts of cat beds online one day (before we adopted our first ever cat recently) and my hubby saw and said not to bother (grew up with cats in the house) as they choose where they sleep.

Her favourite spots are the spare bed, the sofa (but only the specific bit where the two seat cushions meet!) and a sunny windowsill. But probably just as often right in the middle of the floor!

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 09/07/2019 12:22

Well at the moment little man is fast asleep under my bedside stand, that is his new favourite place.
Toilet roll tubes have been replaced in favour of a ball of screwed up paper, he likes to play fetch. In fact if he hears so much as a scrunch of paper he comes tearing through, skidding on the floor to sit looking at you expectantly.
He’s still adorable

He's sweet, very cosy! Genuine Is he a Siamese?

swampytiggaa · 09/07/2019 12:32

I bought my kittens a climbing post thingy. They prefer the wall. And the curtains obviously...

Seriously??!!
ppeatfruit · 09/07/2019 12:39

Yes swampy you can't have a perfect home with kittens and cats! Bless them!

Toddlerteaplease · 09/07/2019 13:11

The late Fatty's favourite things to play with, were the plastic prove covers from our thermometers at work. I'd always come home with them
In my pocket. She'd would know knock the bin over to get them out. I was absolutely gobsmacked as she want very bright!

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 09/07/2019 13:35

ppeat he’s a Ragdoll.
I’ve never had a cat like him, all our others have been moggies. They used to just about tolerate humans in their space, this one loves cuddling and is really affectionate, pounces on feet then rolls over for a belly rub, and sits beside you while you put food in the bowl then waits to be told to eat it.

One of the favourite cat games in my house involves a large paper bag and a ball. Roll ball into bag, cat dives into the bag and pats the ball out. Rinse and repeat. It's a good game to keep small children and cats amused.

It also works with two cats.

swampytiggaa · 09/07/2019 20:22

All I can say is that it’s a good job they are cute 💕

Seriously??!!
Nonstopbuttmachine · 09/07/2019 20:55

@swampytiggaa that's a whole lot of kitties you got there Shock I take it you have no plans to leave your sofa, ever?

swampytiggaa · 09/07/2019 21:09

Husband reluctantly agreed to one kitten. I persuaded him that two would keep each other company then they turned out to be a litter of three... they are absolutely adorable and my three girls love that they have one each to cuddle 💕

AnneElliott · 09/07/2019 21:17

They are all sooo cute!

I've got 4 - and the small one drives me mad hunting. I was clearing up the remains of a bird the other day. She looked inquisitively at me as I cleared up the beak and feet Envy

Hidingtonothing · 09/07/2019 21:32

We play the paper bag game Smile Dcat1 (grumpy 15yr old boy) has one toy, a Winnie the Pooh beanie type soft toy. He's had it since DSC were little (it was a Happy Meal toy) and they are now 20 and 22 respectively! It lost its jumper yonks ago and there's no stuffing left in one leg, it's also more a sort of dirty grey colour than yellow these days.

We've tried buying him new toys, even found an identical Winnie in an old bag of toys but he only has eyes for the original. He carries it around the house making the weirdest yowling sound and then flings it down the stairs, chases, pounces, then brings it back upstairs to do it all over again, usually at about 3am. I love that he's 15 but still acts like a kitten Smile

ppeatfruit · 10/07/2019 08:53

swampy Those kittens are cute but they have big ears, is their mum big?

swampytiggaa · 10/07/2019 15:07

Not particularly big no... fairly normal cat size. However father is unknown as mommy cat was an indoor cat who got out (and has now been spayed)

Should I worry? Have I accidentally acquired giant cats?

MitziK · 10/07/2019 18:04

Looks like you've got one normal sized one in the middle - and two future monsters. Mummy Cat obviously got around a couple before she was found

Are their paws a bit bigger than the other one's, by any chance?
