New thread as the other one is almost full. Now that the girls are getting bigger and venturing about more they’ve had an upgrade to their living space. They seem to love it so far!

TastingTheRainbow · 25/06/2019 18:19

Feel free, you can steal this one who looks adorable but is oh so loud! Literally loves the sound of her own voice and squeaks constantly. It was cute for the first 2 weeks, now not so much 😂

I really really really want a rag doll kitten, but it wouldn't work well in my family 😩

They are so cute I welled up with tears just looking at them. Bless!

timeforawine · 30/06/2019 06:12

Aww OP they are gorgeous! Is it going to be hard to part with them or are you keeping them all?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 30/06/2019 06:56

How do you tell them apart?!

TastingTheRainbow · 30/06/2019 22:33

They have velcro collars on, they are virtually identical so otherwise wouldn’t have a clue.

Almost 5 weeks old now! We are currently working on weaning and litter training. Soon they will off for their first vet checks and then I’ll be interviewing some potential new mummies and daddies.

Have you ever had problems with a kitten that wont latch onto mum looking for advice for a friend if you could offer any advice thanks

GiggleMcDimples · 04/07/2019 22:26

Omg they are bloody gorgeous!!! I'd love a ragdoll one day but my two wouldn't be happy and my one Twatcat already thinks it's perfectly acceptable to piss in our shoes and he's surely on his ninth life right now and he's currently looking at me with "Im going to kill you" eyes.

TastingTheRainbow · 05/07/2019 19:32

@carz64 I have yes. If the kitten isn’t feeding you need to first start topping up the kitten with formula. If very young it’s really easy to put the milk in their lungs rather than their stomach when bottle / syringe feeding so I’d always suggest tube feeding to make absolutely sure. The vet can show you how to do this and sell you the supplies needed.

Once you’ve got the kitten fed you can investigate what the problem is why the kitten won’t latch. Is there a cleft palate? Any signs of infection? Any abnormality etc.

Sometimes no matter what you do you can’t save them sadly. We lost one at a few days old, the litter started with 4, due to meconium aspiration during delivery. Small kittens go downhill fast so it’s important to act fast. If the kitten hasn’t already seen a vet that’s the first step.

Been a while since I’ve updated as have been busy with weaning and litter training. The girls are 7 weeks old now and absolutely adorable! 2 have been reserved and there’s just 1 little one still looking. They stay with me until 12 weeks old so I still have a couple of weeks of playing.

What does the mother do when they go? Is she sad?

TastingTheRainbow · 21/07/2019 17:00

She’s usually fed up of them at that point.

They stay for 12 weeks, around 8-9 weeks she starts feeding them less and less, kicking them away and running off so they can’t feed too long. By 12 weeks she has completely stopped them feeding so tends to be annoyed with them as they will try and feed and she’s no longer letting them.

Around that time she usually comes back into season also so her attention is elsewhere and she’s lost interest in the kittens. We don’t let her go back to stud that early as we like her to have a years break but if she had her way she would.

We generally space out the kittens being collected so they don’t all vanish on the same day but she’s never looked for them after they’ve gone. In fact the one we kept from a previous litter she doesn’t get along with much. She certainly no longer knows that she’s her kitten.

Aww :)

Last post at the gorgeous trio are now 11 weeks old and go their new homes next week once they’ve had their second vaccination and microchip. All are going to fabulous homes but it’s always sad to see them go. Very proud of how well they’ve developed!
