Cat sleeping stretched out

My cat's about six years old, been with me two years. Recently I've noticed he's tending to sleep stretched out with his chin on whatever he's lying on (sofa, bed etc). Is it just that he is comfortable like this because he's been on a diet and has lost weight, or is there something else going on, do you think?

My cats sleep in all sorts of positions

AventaRizon · 12/04/2019 21:57

Don't worry about it. My cat sleeps stretched out on the windowsill with her head in a tray of seashells and scented candles.

Toddlerteaplease · 12/04/2019 22:35

Mine do this. It's soo cute! Especially when snorg has her head between her paws.

Fortheloveofscience · 12/04/2019 22:41

Mine does this when he’s super-relaxed, both front feet stuck straight out forwards and chin resting on whatever he’s sleeping on. It’s my second-favorite of his sleeping positions (favorite is when he lies on his back with one front foot covering his eyes!)

Penguinpandarabbit · 12/04/2019 22:45

Ours does this and puts her head on the pillow, its fine.

Penguinpandarabbit · 12/04/2019 22:48

Sometimes I think ours is on a land grab, trying to get as much space as possible, as she gets to be about a metre long with paws out both sides and tail out.

Meet Basil the contortionist!

And Sybil my girl cat loves to sleep with her chin resting on the bed/sofa. Completely normal cat behaviour Smile

UtterlyPerfectCartoonGiraffe · 12/04/2019 23:07

Earlier today I found my cat sleeping stretched out on the landing with his head wedged through the bannister posts.

Maybe they sleep so much that it gets a bit boring, so they like to mix it up. Like extreme sleeping Grin

2 of my boys I fostered, 2 of my own. Some cats like to curl up and others just enjoy a good old stretchy sleep!

FlutterShite · 12/04/2019 23:19

OP, I think you need to provide a picture of the sleeping cat, in order for us to make a proper assessment.

YesQueen · 12/04/2019 23:20

Mine loves sleeping with his chin draped over something (edge of cat bed, bed footrail, my arm....)

MissPollyHadADolly19 · 12/04/2019 23:20

Baby brain I posted the same picture twice oopsBlush

MayCup · 12/04/2019 23:36

Biggie does this. We say he is impersonating a dead side of beef Grin

mimibunz · 13/04/2019 04:44

The Bunz does this when he wants to cool down from sleeping in front of the fireplace. Tough life he has.

sashh · 13/04/2019 05:27

Mine sometimes sleeps on the radiator with her head hanging off the edge.

Allergictoironing · 13/04/2019 08:16

Girlcat sometimes stretches out full length, especially in warm weather. We reger to it as her "run over by a steamroller" impression!

I do love your wall art Allergic! Is Girlcat the artiste?

Allergictoironing · 13/04/2019 11:48

Nope Boycat is the artist Grin

What a gorgeous boy! Looks and talent!

Allergictoironing · 13/04/2019 13:41

Artistic talent maybe, but no brains at all bless him. He's stupid, scared, clumsy, with the attention span of a geriatric gnat. He's incredibly handsome (to my eyes anyway) with a glorious smoke black silky glossy coat, and adores his cuddles, but when he stares at me there's only love and not a single glimmer of intelligence in his eyes. Thank goodness it was always agreed with the rescue that they would be indoor cats, as I doubt he would survive 5 minutes even just in my back garden Grin
