How does your cart wake you up?

Mine jumps on the bed between 4:30 and 5 am and sticks her whiskers up my nose. Or rubs her wet nose on my lips. Anyone else have a cat who does this?

Mine chirrups outside the bedroom door.

Toddlerteaplease · 31/03/2019 03:24

Yes. Cheddar does this several times a night. She sneezes in my face, sits on me and makes biscuits, and rubs her face on mine. If she just did that and sat still it'd be fine but she just doesn't stop fidgeting, and climbing all over me. Even if I lift her off she does t stop. Awake now as the little bugger woke me. She's now fast asleep, of course!

Tavannach · 31/03/2019 03:32

If she really wants to waken me she breathes gently in my ear. Surprisingly effective.

Smotheroffive · 31/03/2019 03:41

My dcat is uber lazy, and dies a little bit in his sleep so never tries to wake me,but will take a dump on my bed without bothering to wake me and go straight back to sleep, if I have a lay in.

agnurse · 31/03/2019 06:17

Jayda comes and climbs on me. Gatsby comes next to me and bats me with his paw.

Biggie doesn't wake people up. Just not his thing. If he knows you're asleep or suspects you're trying to fall asleep, he will curl up on a corner of the bed. If he sees you're already awake, he will climb on top of you. Once Hubby had an episode of sleep paralysis. He had left the bedroom door open. His eyes were open but he couldn't move. Biggie looked in, thought Daddy was awake, and promptly climbed on top of him. The thing is, Biggie weighs just over a stone so he is not light! Hubby was not very impressed Grin

Dkitten taps my face with her paw to demand attention. Dcat occasionally meows in my face but she’s generally a more aloof cat so that’s rare

minou123 · 31/03/2019 08:37

Mine jump over my head, making sure their undercarriage brushes against my face. Hmm

If that doesn't work, one will pull my hair, the other makes as much noise as possible.

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/03/2019 08:40

Has a very loud shit, with much digging and scraping in his box at 0530 in the morning.

Toddlerteaplease · 31/03/2019 09:07

The late Fatty would stick her bum in my face and sit on my head. Snorg likes to tuck her self under my arm. But she doesn't wake me up.

LemonRedwood · 31/03/2019 09:11

His Highness has finally figured out (only taken three years) that I will ignore the paw on my mouth and his attempts to groom my hair or lick my nose. For the past week he's grabbed the phone charger lead and yanked my mobile off the bedside table, which does make me move.

Dippypippy1980 · 31/03/2019 10:39

Mine chirps and cries in the en-suite. Acoustics are better in there - she sits in the shower and signs her head off

GinUp · 31/03/2019 15:04

Mine walks along my legs and then lies down on my chest.

I've had 9 years of this and he still hasn't figured out that pinning me down isn't entirely conducive to getting me out of bed to feed him...

agnurse · 31/03/2019 18:42

One thing I forgot to mention about Gatsby: I swear that little guy can tell time. He learned early on that if he badgered me for attention before the alarm went off, he got nothing. Now, if he comes for attention, he usually does it just a few minutes before the alarm goes off. What a smart little guy!

Here is the lovable rogue himself, sitting on his mum (me).

Our cat has been a royal pain this past few weeks - usually on weekdays she waits until she hears my alarm. I think it must be because it’s a bit lighter. My side of the bed is nearest the door, so she springs up on me, purring madly. If my hands are outside the duvet she pats them, otherwise she puts her nose in my mouth. If she moves on to DP, he picks her up and puts her on the floor, and she starts again. We’ve tried shutting her in the kitchen, but she cries and I am too soft. She can open our bedroom door like a pro.

My cart wakes me up with that awful trundling, and sometimes it tips bits of its load of straw onto me. Bloody nuisance. I'm thinking of getting a unicycle instead, as I've heard they're less trouble, but I suppose people would think I was horrible for re-homing an innocent cart.

polarpig · 01/04/2019 01:19

Dcat sits on the bed and thumps his tail. That and throws up next to dd's bed and wails pitifully before curling up asleep as soon as you go and look. Bastard cat Grin

Papergirl1968 · 01/04/2019 19:19

Walks over me, miaows at me, pats my face, lies on me with his backside close to my face, and as a last resort will knock things off the bedside table and rip up any bits of paper left lying around such as receipts.
Luckily for him I luffs him.

mollpop · 02/04/2019 06:25

I agree Time40. Rehome the cart and swap it for a tractor

7.5 kilos of cat jumps on the pillow and pulls my hair. If that doesn't work, he plonks his bum on my face. He has yet to learn that DH is both a lighter sleeper and a softer touch.

JenniferJareau · 04/04/2019 20:24

Usually shouts outside my bedroom door if the door is closed. If open I get trodden upon at an awful hour

rosydreams · 04/04/2019 20:36

REHHHHHHHROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

aka weres my fecking breakfast lol

AlexaAmbidextra · 05/04/2019 01:24

By pulling my hair and washing my face. And purring very, very loudly while standing on my pillow.

SusieQ5604 · 05/04/2019 01:27

Mine sleep in or else snuggle up on me

PotterHead1985 · 05/04/2019 01:38

Let's see:
Pumpkin will hoot and holler at the top of her voice
Jade scratches the doorposts
Smudge doesn't often wake anyone up. She sleeps longer than the other two and by that point 1 or both of the cats and or 1 or both of the dogs have roused the household. However if you are having a mid-day nap and she doesn't think you should she will do a combination of Pumpkin and Jade!! 😻

NW2SW · 05/04/2019 08:59

Waits until he hears movement and then starts singing the breakfast song... sometimes I wake up with him snuggling on the bed which is a treat.
