My beloved cat has been gone nearly a week. Please does anyone have any lost cat come back stories to cheer me up and give me hope.

I'm so sad 😢

Oh no. Chipped? Registered to your address? On local lost pet sites? Checked in with vets and shelters?

SadCatMama · 01/12/2018 18:25

Chipped and registered. Leafleted locally, and asked at vets.

Round here any “found” cats go to a local rescue. Worth an ask.
Used litter tray outside? They can smell it.

SadCatMama · 01/12/2018 18:29

Will try the litter tray idea thanks, didn't know about that. But can't help but think if he could come home, he would have by now.

Will have a look for local rescues too. Thanks Wolfie

Both of mine have gone awol. Shut in a garage. In an empty property?
The can’t return doesn’t have to be due to an injury.
Any neighbours away?
I have been known to stalk the streets at night and whistle my cat through people’s garage doors. As a child a cat absconded for three weeks then turned up. It’s such a worry though.

SadCatMama · 01/12/2018 18:37

3 weeks! Blimey. I'm going out of my mind here, but a return after 3 weeks is reassuring.

She was shut in a garage we think. Came back covered in oil.

Catmint · 01/12/2018 18:42

Sending love x

NeonK · 01/12/2018 18:56

Mines been gone since Monday ☹️ So no happy stories but keeping cat-watch with you. I'm like you - I keep thinking if he could come back, he would.

MirandaWest · 01/12/2018 18:59

Ours went missing in May for 5 nights. Appeared again one day very hungry - we think she got locked in somewhere.

When I was younger we had a cat who disappeared for nearly 2 weeks near Christmas and came back very dirty indeed, thin and hungry

KittensAndChristmasCake · 01/12/2018 18:59

Ours came back after 4 months - she was living with a man who allegedly hadn't seen our posters.
Don't give up hope 🌸

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 01/12/2018 19:00

Aww fingers crossed, mine has just returned after just 3 days and that was bad enough. Have had a awful week with the loss of my 12w old kitten so my other cat coming back made the week a bit better.
Hopefully he’ll turn up this weekend if people go into their sheds etc.

Intohellbutstayingstrong · 01/12/2018 19:08

@SadCatMama My boy came back last weekend after three weeks awol. Hang in there

SadCatMama · 01/12/2018 19:16

Thank you all. It really helps to have some positive stories.

KittensAndChristmasCake ShockShockShockAngry how did you find out? I don't think I'd be able to control myself in that situation.

KittensAndChristmasCake · 01/12/2018 22:36

He actually brought her back and said he'd only just seen the posters! 😒 I think he got fed up with her (she's very loud 😁)

norfolkandchanceyou · 01/12/2018 22:40

If he's chipped and found elsewhere as long as your contact details are up to date you will be contacted.

I foster for a rescue and recently we had a cat come in whose chip identified her as being missing for 5 years. Owners had moved several times but always updated the details and they were stunned to hear she was still alive. No one knows where she has been for those 5 years but shows just how important a chip is

Fingers crossed OP your little returns soon. If you're on Facebook post on Red Alert page xx

DrMadelineMaxwell · 01/12/2018 22:41

Ours disappeared for 2 nights and three days in the summer and came back hungry but unharmed so we think he was in a garage somewhere - he certainly had the habit of getting locked in ours! Sadly, he died recently and is much missed.

Our friend's cat disappeared for 6 months. He has wandered back a few times and they realised he'd adopted a new owner from a home close to where they live. They've given up going back every time now to retrieve him as that's clearly where he's happier to be.

SadCatMama · 02/12/2018 10:20

YouveCatToBeKittenMe Flowers

5 years! Bloody hell. He is chipped, so I'll try to readjust my expectations Smile

DrMadeline your friend's cat is whole different kind of heartbreaking. Brilliant that the cat is ok, but still, your poor friend.

My old cat went missing for a week or so. She had wandered and someone thought she was stray and took her to a rescue centre. This was the 90s so she hadn’t been chopped. We put an ad in the paper to say she was missing and the people that found her contacted us.

FrankieChips · 02/12/2018 11:29

Chips can sometimes move and are hard to read btw.

SadCatMama · 02/12/2018 12:52

I didn't know that FrankieChips 😢 Glad you got her back.

I have contacted local vets and rescue centres, and local FB pages.

Crossing fingers.

A friend's cat went missing for 5 days and he walked back in the house like he'd only been out for a stroll.

FrankieChips · 04/12/2018 22:32

Any news?

SadCatMama · 06/12/2018 18:58

He's back!!

Apparently he was hiding in a neighbour's garage, and somehow managed to survive for 11 days Shock

Thank you so much for all your support and positive stories.

Hope yours comes back too NeonK

Oh I’m so pleased. I said mine had been shut in garages. Seems ok?
Hoping for good news for you too Neon.
