Is this a Ragdoll?

Please can anyone tell me...is this a moggy or a Ragdoll cat? Here are two photos. They are the only ones I can find on Facebook, so unfortunately you cannot see the cats face. The cat is average size. Has normal green/brown cat eyes. I think it's your common and garden variety???

Looks long-haired/semi-long-haired mog to my untrained eye.

Gorgeous pusscat though, whatever Smile.

Looks like a tuxedo to me, from what I can see. I love tuxedos. I believe there are ragdolls that look like this as well.

Weedsnseeds1 · 05/01/2018 10:25

I think ragdolls are normally paler colours with coloured points and usually blue eyes.
I would say moggie for that one

Lovely333 · 05/01/2018 10:28

Could be a cross, But I didnt think pedigree ragdolls were these colours as pp said they are usually light in colour with various point coloured, And blue eyes.
There are lots of none genuine ragdolls about.

mummyhaschangedhername · 05/01/2018 10:31

From those photos I don't see ragdoll at all. Beautiful cat though.

Lovely333 · 05/01/2018 10:32

Is someone selling it trying to pretend it is then?

Twooter · 05/01/2018 10:33

What’s the story behind the question?

happymummy12345 · 05/01/2018 10:35

I'm not sure.
I have a half Ragdoll (yes he really is. The cat that had him was my stepdad's mum's cat, who was most definitely a Ragdoll).

EachandEveryone · 05/01/2018 10:57

Are u buying him? He is lovely.

butterfly280 · 05/01/2018 14:28

The cat belongs to a woman I know who tells porkies quite a lot. She has insisted to me that this is a Ragdoll for the last few years. It's a moggie, I'm sure although I haven't said anything. I don't care what breed her cat is. But now she's intending to breed with her, as a genuine pedigree Ragdoll. I said I think your cat is a common and garden long haired moggy, like mine. She blew up insisting she has paperwork to prove it. More bullshit I think.

That's not a rag doll. I'd be interested to see this 'paperwork'.

UnitedKungdom · 05/01/2018 14:32

Here you go, you've definitely caught her out. You can't have a black ragdoll. 😂

Ragdolls don't come in tuxedo - mainly colourpoint or bicolour. And they have blue eyes! They also have a slightly different face shape to moggies. It won't let me post a pic of mine Hmm

Fruitcocktail6 · 05/01/2018 14:54

No that's not a ragdoll, I have two

Weedsnseeds1 · 05/01/2018 15:30

Mine is similar to that and he's a common or garden moggy.

Beautifully silky looking though.

butterfly280 · 05/01/2018 15:32

I don't know how to say to her politely that her cat is not a Ragdoll. I shouldn't really care, but I'm tired of being lied to. She must think I'm a right div.

I have three Ragdolls cats and don’t believe the one in the picture is a purebred one. Maybe, to be generous, one of its parents is?

butterfly280 · 05/01/2018 15:40

This is my bog standard semi long haired tortoishell cat Myrtle. My cat is larger, more luxurious and more affectionate than her 'Ragdoll'.

Either she's deliberately lying, or she's been conned.

I'd just keep quiet about it and make encouraging noises about how well looked after it appears.

Is there some competitive cat keeping going on OP?

Weedsnseeds1 · 05/01/2018 17:03

I want to see Myrtle! The picture isn't showing for me Sad

1sttimeunicorn · 05/01/2018 17:12

I have a rag doll flame red point. I agree they are usually lighter colours with pointed colouring. So I think this is a long haired cat.

PanannyPanoo · 05/01/2018 17:30

Lovely long haired cat. Not a ragdoll though. They have blue eyes and coloured points.

ProfYaffle · 05/01/2018 17:40

We used to have a ginger rag doll cross. He was huge, really muscular shoulders (once managed to attack and injure a Labrador at the vets from inside his cat box!) had a magnificent mane like a mini Lion.

Miss him a lot Sad
