'To a Very Special Cat at Christmas'

I was buying a card for my husband today, and came across some Christmas cards for pets [santa]. I've never seen them before. My household doesn't receive many cards, so I bought one each for the cats and the dog. I'm waiting for my husband to tell me I'm bonkers when I get them out on Christmas day Xmas Grin. In my defence, we don't put any other decorations up so having some cards displayed makes the house look festive.

I wondered what Christmas things (if any) others had bought for their pets.

For our cats, a scratch pad house, soft mat to sleep on the windowsill, cat treats. Tins of tuna each.

We got MIL dog, dog treats they’re ready wrapped up. He gets upset if everyone’s unwrapping gifts and he isn’t! (Really does)

Personalised stockings from eBay for each of the cats. The woman who I bought them from probably thinks my children have really weird names...

user1499114292 · 22/12/2017 21:57

The only Mother's Day card my mother ever kept on display, for several years, was the one from the cat. Done all by himself, of courseHmm

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 22/12/2017 22:00

I've seen them from the cat or dog, which God knows is weird enough, but why would you give a cat a Christmas card? Confused

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 22/12/2017 22:06

Iamagreyhound My main reason is to (semi) legitimately boost the number of cards we have on display Xmas Blush.

The personalised stockings sound lovely - laughing at the idea of the seller's mind boggling at your strange choice of 'children's' names!

Sorry, I'm not laughing at you, screaming. I'd just find it less odd to send each other a card from the pets, rather than sending them to the pets... Maybe that's just me being odd though!

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 22/12/2017 22:18

I did think about doing it that way, greyhound, but the 'to the pet' cards were a bit more novel and I think my DH will find it amus.ing We like funny cards, but the only husband-themed jokey one I could find was a bit lame Xmas Grin. I think there are probably more people in the 'thinking it a bit odd' camp than not!

Not sure where that full stop came from in 'amusing' Xmas Confused.

Bought a toy each for my two cats Xmas Grin

GerundTheBehemoth · 22/12/2017 22:25

A friend of mine gave my cat an advent calendar - a few treats in each window. The cat has absolutely loved it.

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 22/12/2017 22:28

That sounds great, Gerund - I will look out for those next year. We have no DC and I try to avoid too much chocolate, so an excuse for an advent calendar would be welcome.

I was in Clinton cards earlier today anx was amused to find a whole section of Christmas cards devoted to pets:- to or from the dog(s) and to/from the cat(s). I'm a little embarrassed to admit that i came across these whilst looking for a card to send to NDN dog!

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 22/12/2017 22:38

I got mine from Card Factory. There was only one design each for 'cat' and 'dog' so my younger cat is getting 'to a fabulous pet' to avoid duplication!

Dcat got the “To a very special cat card” and he sent his nanna cat (my dm) a “from the cat” card wishing her a merry Christmas and thanking her for all the treats she sends him.
He has a tin of Felix treats, a tin of Dreamies, and a Paws Off My Xmas Dinner” bowl. And nanna cat will buy him a new scratching post when this one is destroyed.

It's our kittens' first Christmas so I the children went a bit nuts. They are getting a radiator bed, a play tunnel, a toy mouse, a 'da bird' type toy, a crawling mouse and two types of Christmas dinner!
No cards though but maybe I could persuade the children to make them?!

Ollivander84 · 22/12/2017 23:12

A real sheepskin liner for his bed. He's got it already and adores it!

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 22/12/2017 23:20

Earslaps - it doesn't sound like they'd need much persuading!

Some lovely gift ideas on this thread!

I have sent photo upload cards from my cats to my friends cats. And to my mum and dads Cat, and to Pinksparkly's Harry!

Toddlerteaplease · 22/12/2017 23:36

Mine are having new carriers. My pate ta Cat is getting a toy. And my friends Cat is getting a stocking full of treats.

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 22/12/2017 23:40

Toddlertea - I missed a trick in not having the pets send them to one another! My parents are staying with us, and their cat is in the cattery - I did think about sending one from her to my parents, but I thought it might upset my mum, who always misses her cat when she's away.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/12/2017 05:27

GrinMy cats send a photo upload card with pictures of the cats it for. My parents cat is very proud of his card. They don't send pictures of themselves (apart from to Harry) because they think that is vain!

Esbenandthewitch · 23/12/2017 05:55

I bought the dreamies mouse treat dispenser last year.My cat watches me knock it gently and shake dreamies out for her.

takemycounty · 23/12/2017 05:58

Mine will have his Dreamies Selection tin.

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 23/12/2017 06:02

Our cats are getting bespoke handcrafted cards (made by dd at school).

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 23/12/2017 10:31

My cats and the dog will be getting some of our Christmas goose in their bowls on the day - they love it!
