'To a Very Special Cat at Christmas'

I was buying a card for my husband today, and came across some Christmas cards for pets [santa]. I've never seen them before. My household doesn't receive many cards, so I bought one each for the cats and the dog. I'm waiting for my husband to tell me I'm bonkers when I get them out on Christmas day Xmas Grin. In my defence, we don't put any other decorations up so having some cards displayed makes the house look festive.

I wondered what Christmas things (if any) others had bought for their pets.

Assorted cat treats, a Whiskas stocking ( from a friend) a fishing rod toy, cat sushi and a case of chicken lik-e-liks ( sent OH to the cash and carry yesterday).

TheSpottedZebra · 23/12/2017 17:21

My cat sends a card to the neighbours' cats. We also send a card to the humans at the same address, from the humans.

I also bought my cat an advent calendar -his first. To cheer me him up after his brother died. I had to hide it in the car for some weeks, as it was catnip and drove him crazy. He only had a few days of it as it gave him the wild shits.

TheSpottedZebra · 23/12/2017 17:22

Oh, and my cat has put a present under the tree for my sister's cat.
I suspect she'll bring a present with her for him, too.

Ilovetolurk · 23/12/2017 17:29

I bought my dragon some hoppers and worms for an extra treat

The cat has got a new beanbag (she thinks it’s for her anyway)

Plus gift for DILs dog

Tbh the hoppers will not make it to Christmas day

Ilovetolurk · 23/12/2017 17:33

Oh the cat and dragon are Mr May and Miss September in DMs photo calendar Xmas Wink

Weedsnseeds1 · 23/12/2017 17:50

My eyes just bypassed the word "dragon" and substituted the word "cat". I was wondering why on earth you'd want to give a cat worms! ( And also what hoppers were and if everyone else knew of this treat and I was denying my poor boy something in my ignorance!)

Ilovetolurk · 23/12/2017 18:47

They do fascinate the cat to be fair when I get them out of the packet and they hop around the bathtub whilst I try to catch them but she has not yet tried eating one

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 23/12/2017 18:50

That's a hilarious image, Ilovetolurk Xmas Grin

It’s like I’m a Celebrity for pets

Weedsnseeds1 · 23/12/2017 19:03

Mine would catch them for you. Whether he'd eat them, or line the little corpses up on the landing ( possibly decapitated), I couldn't say!

Hulder · 23/12/2017 19:07

Tufty has already got her present - the cardboard box the duck comes in.

She is beyond thrilled and sat in it straight away Xmas Grin

Big Girl and Merp are very jealous.

Oldraver · 23/12/2017 19:20

The cat has his own stocking and will get a new toy and some festive Lick-e-lix

OMG just realised that DS wanted to get him a mit but forgot yesterday

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 23/12/2017 20:42

Hulder Cats do love cardboard boxes, don't they? Something I unfortunately only learned after shelling out on a lovely furry cat bed for my first cat, which she totally ignored in favour of a old Black & Decker drill box Xmas Sad.

Ours have a stocking each, one cat is getting tubes of fish mousse, one some chew sticks, and the other a teddy pillow with catnip inside. My human relatives have each been given a cat advent calendar for their cats. Mine also have an advent calendar 😸

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 23/12/2017 21:20

I will definitely be getting pet advent calendars next year Xmas Grin.

I haven’t seen any Christmas dinners in my tescos

YesItsMeIDontCare · 23/12/2017 22:34

Leroy sent personalised Moonpig cards this year. We have a few older neighbours who adore him, but wouldn't know who we are by our names iyswim. I figured a picture of Leroy on the front and they'd all think "ah - yes!".

He hasn't received any cards himself (only included in family ones) but he's got a tidy little prezzie pile building up 😂.

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 23/12/2017 22:39

YesItsMe Quite right too - only personalised cards are good enough for our feline masters and mistresses to have us send on their behalves Xmas Grin.

EachandEveryone Will your cat(s) not be getting a share of yours? Unless it's pork based or vegetarian I would have thought a portion in the cat bowl was mandatory Xmas Grin

A personalised Leroy card? I'd feel so special if I was your neighbor! What a brilliant idea Smile

ZebraOwl · 24/12/2017 05:23

My cats are getting a selection of toys - they don't have the catnip!gene but they love valerian, so I've got them some new valerian-filled toys. I have a valerian spray I sometimes spritz their toys with to refresh them, but new ones seemed to be in order. They're also getting a cube bed for my room to replace the cardboard box that I'd had by my bed for a bit while Really Very Ill. Box was popular napping spot & my cats actually like beds, so thought I'd give it a whirl...

They also get wet food at both meals & I have some pudding & other treats for them too...

YesItsMeIDontCare · 24/12/2017 05:29

It was this one. Sent a couple to neighbours' dogs who he's on nose- booping terms with 😁.

Grin I have neglected Madam BrokenCat. She hasn't got anything. I am clearly a cruel cat mum Xmas Sad and need to buy her stuff today.
Hulder · 24/12/2017 08:08

Screaming thankfully Tufty is prepared to share and Merp has had a nice sleep in the box too. They have perfectly nice beds but prefer our bed or the ironing board - sigh...

One year I was going to get them stockings in Lidl but came over all feminist as the cat option was 'Good Girl' and the dog option was 'Something Boy'. Now my cats are girls but I started going off on one about assumptions about cats and women and DH made me shut up and leave the store Blush

Next year I am going to try to remember to get the Lily's Kitchen Advent Calendars before they all sell out.

bigbluebus · 24/12/2017 17:13

We have just had a visit from next door's dog who came bearing gifts Grin. I have a bottle of something in a gift bag with a dog picture on it and DH has a box of something which is under the tree.

Weedsnseeds1 · 24/12/2017 17:56

Nothing, broken ?
