Is there one particular toy your cat is obsessed with?

Missy cannot get enough of this thing. Rather than chasing it at the end of a wand, she likes to carry it around in her mouth and take it to bed with her.

My Christmas tree HmmGrin

TheSecondOfHerName · 18/12/2017 12:06

We had to cut off the stick and string because she was just dragging them around everywhere behind her.

Here she is guarding her prize.

Fauxtatoes what do they do the rest of the year (or do you leave the tree up all year for their entertainment?) Smile

A ratty old dinosaur teddy that cost 99p and the broken off end of chasey stick thing - I've spent a small fortune on fancy interactive toys and extravagant furniture for them, but that's all they're interested in Hmm

Scribblegirl · 18/12/2017 12:20

This thing - we hook it around the door handle and it can keep him entertained for hours (until he manages to get it off the handle).

He's also very much in love with a tiny knitted hat that came on an Innocent smoothie bottle the winter he was born - it came with him when we adopted him and looks like a chewed piece of wool now, but he loves it!

Ping pong balls, he's mad for them and will noisily twat them against something so we know it's playtime!

TheSecondOfHerName · 18/12/2017 12:24

I've offered her a range: everything from expensive branded toys (Kong etc) to selected items from the recycling bin (empty plastic cotton reel etc). Nothing else has triggered this extreme possessive reaction.

Small yellow mouse. Has to be yellow. Has to have a rattle bit inside. Furry thing. Lost his tail years ago. Fur is ha going off the plastic chewed body. But it’s the favourite toy ever. Can’t find a replacement.

BulletFox · 18/12/2017 12:53

Oh god no. She only likes bank notes or business cards to play with.

Feel quite jealous others have designated cat toys!

chewbacca83 · 18/12/2017 12:57

Ball of tinfoil. Not ANY of the shop bought expensive toys....nope. She will come running from any corner of the house if she heard that tinfoil ball being kicked 😊

jaspercat2002 · 18/12/2017 13:27

This feather on a stick thing - boy cat carries it around in his mouth whilst his sister chases the other end. Hours of fun!

Cotton buds. They're like crack to my lass.

DottyS · 18/12/2017 13:33

Tissue paper - he just cannot get enough of it. And a cheap furry mouse toy that now has its ears missing, eyes have been chewed off - heaven knows where the tail went and the innards have also mysteriously disappeared. New mice have been bought but nothing will replace "scraggy".

Weezol · 18/12/2017 13:45

Also crinkly carrier bags. Any empty bag that is left unattended for more than 0.2 seconds is immediately colonised.
I have a box of toys that I need to give away - anyone know if a cat shelter would find them useful?

TheSecondOfHerName · 18/12/2017 14:16

jaspercat2002 that is an amazing photo.

The window part of a windowed envelope. She (tabby) hears when we open the post and comes running from wherever she is. You then have to tear out the see through bit and scrumple it up. Some are superior to others.
B&W couldn't give a fig about toys.

jaspercat2002 · 18/12/2017 15:13

Thanks OP - my sister is really good with her camera and has taken some lovely shots of them. They put my blurred phone camera efforts to shame!

MrsFoxPlus4 · 19/12/2017 05:44

Taking the bells out of toys. Hair bobbles & water.

NotAPuffin · 19/12/2017 11:03

One used to play with nail files, though just stares confusedly at them now. The other likes mint Viscount wrappers. Other foil is of no interest to her, it has to be minty.

Slinky on a stick, and the laser pointer. We ration the laser pointer as I’m not sure it’s the best thing, but he knows where it’s kept and the sound it makes (the clicking button and little keychain it has). The minute you pick it out of the draw his eyes dilate.

When we first got him i almost thought he didn’t like to play. Then I discovered that dressing gown cords were acceptable, slinky strips of fabric on a stick even more so. He totally ignores toy mice, puzzle toys, balls. He is afraid of his kong kicker toy and approaches it from one end. If it moves on him he runs away.

Alakazam7 · 19/12/2017 11:16

Mine loves pipe cleaners. Found this out when I dropped one organising a child’s craft box. He fetches them mews till I throw them again for him, hides them and kicks them about. I’ve given up buying cat toys now!

Doobigetta · 19/12/2017 13:48

Feathers. She LOVES feathers. Her cat tree has little bunches of feathers on it on elastic, and she pulled one of them free and careers around with it in her mouth.

DioneTheDiabolist · 19/12/2017 13:52

My new living room curtains. Angry

Kraggle · 19/12/2017 13:55

Hair bobbles. Always the hair bobbles. I’ve run out he’s stolen so many or kicked them under the sofa.

Same here, I have a laser-pointer-obsessive, kickeroo-fearing cat as well!
