Had a fight with my cat over

Tuna. I very rarely buy it as no else else in the house eats fish and they hate the smell, but I have a free house. Made some tuna mayonnaise and the cat went crazy for it, obviously. She's normally well trained about people food but it drove her nuts. I put some dregs from the tin in her bowl but nope, she wanted mine!

When I woke up this morning there are bird feathers on the floor... I'm sure she's sending me a big fuck you. This is war isn't it, and I'm being beaten by a cat...

Look, you need to apologise to your cat before she escalates things.

cunningstunnt · 30/09/2017 16:05

OK OK. She's currently sulking so I'll have to get the dreamies out Grin

She's a cat. You're surprised why? My lovely boy once shat on my foot when we'd run out of his favourite food.

I kid you not.

You need to sort this out asap. For your own safety.

cunningstunnt · 30/09/2017 16:25

BellMcEnd ConfusedShock but she's normally so good about food! We have a clear territorial thing going on - I don't touch hers and she doesn't touch mine. The only exception is crisps, and even then she'll just stare at me purring rather than begging. This was like a possessed thing coming at me Grin

You brought TUNA! That says everything. My old cats never left me alone with tuna so it was a share tin :-P next time, get 2 tins and make it a special bonding moment between you and your purrball. One for you one for me 😋🐱😋

I've had to resort to showing suscat tins of beans and lentils because since she discovered the sound of a tin opening might mean tuna, she won't leave me alone until she knows it isn't tuna! She was pissed off the first time she saw beans in the tin instead!

And she's started eating my fecking ice cream now too.

winglesspegasus · 30/09/2017 16:47

it puts the tuna in the bowl
mine go crazy when i open tuna.turkey or chicken
now its with mayo too.manx steals ice cream if i leave it unattended.
tiny calico followed me all over the house with a chicken sandwich last night.i kept going to see what she would do,went on for 30 minutes

winglesspegasus · 30/09/2017 16:48

oh and the compromise when making tuna/mayo from a tin ;is they get the juice/water.they dont like it in oil.

cunningstunnt · 30/09/2017 16:52

Bloody hell scary!

My cat is currently sulking because she knocked the Dreamies off the counter but I'd sealed the bag! She then tried to claw the bag open but I got the bag off her.

cunningstunnt · 30/09/2017 19:38

What is it with dreamies? It's like crack for cats. The cartoon advert where the cat comes crashing through the wall as soon as he hears the pouch isn't far off ime

Followed up with this....

Toddlerteaplease · 01/10/2017 01:23

I can’t even open a pack of wet wipes without having four enormous green eyes staring at me, and quacking to tell me they want treats.

Toddlerteaplease · 01/10/2017 12:42

Went to a friends house last night. He rattled the treats and his cats just ignored it. One of them was eating but still ignored it. That would never ever happen in my house!

DumbledoresApprentice · 01/10/2017 14:58

We have to keep the dreamies in a little glass mason jar with a clippy lid. We've come home to empty shredded pouches of them that she's managed to get hold of on too many occasions. She also punched tooth holes and scratched gouges into the lid of a (admittedly fairly flimsy plastic) Tupperware thing that we decided to use because of the shredded pouches.

susurration · 02/10/2017 15:39

Yes we now keep the dreamings in a small cake tin in a locked cupboard after she managed to once eat an entire bag that fell off the kitchen work surface.
