worming a feisty cat. Please help

My kittens are 6 months old. The girls is a gentle, compliant thing so worming drops are not an issue.
The male is feisty. I have tried drops and he half scratched me to death last time I tried to administer them. So, have tablets from the vets which I have crushed up and tried to disguise in strong tasting tuna,. He can however, taste it and is ignoring the food. What can I do? He hasn't got worms but is behind on his dose.

I put the drops on my cat when she's asleep, you have to be quick though! Failing that if you can get him to the vet the nurse will be happy to do it for you.

I get the vet to give the tablet at the six month check up.

These are Oral drops that I bought before the vet tablets.. The tablets say they must be given with food, but since they are huge things they will obviously taint the food. Seems stupid to make them so big.

I get the vet to give FatCat his worming treatment. Sometimes they manage to get a tablet into him, sometimes he has the spot in treatment on his neck!

Try putting it into cream cheese. I got some crushed tablets into one of my cats like this.

Have you tried a spot on treatment yet? That's how I managed with the ex-ferals...

I've got the spot on stuff for ours, think it's called Droncit. Haven't used it yet but I manage with the flea stuff ok.

Not sure I could do tablets or oral drops without being massacred in the process!

Right, I'll get the spot on stuff then. I have de flea-ed today with the vet stuff, that's not a problem. He doesn't like it but doesn't try to kill me!

the drops only do tapeworm though. What about other worms? ( not earthworms!)

Try Milbemax tablets. Much smaller and beef flavoured. I have no problem getting them down my two. Drontal was a vet job but these are easy. Try Greenies pill pouch treats.

Our adult cat is large and quite feisty. We use tablets but it's a 2 man job. DH will pick him up and wrap him in a towel so just his head is poking out, then hold him tightly. I dip the tablet in butter, use one GA d up prise his mouth open and the other to chuck the tablet into the back of his throat then hold his mouth shut until he swallows. Cat is very unimpressed but it's done quickly. Am glad it's only every 3 months though!

The last lot of Drontal I got was much smaller, they used to be enormous great things. I think the tablet might have been reformulated recently?

Would it be easier to do a flea/worm combination spot on like advocate/stronghold/prinovox? My ex feral can't cope well with monthly spot ons so I switched to bravecto, but she unexpectedly ate a worm tablet that I hadn't even hidden properly in her food. Was prazitel I think. I was in shock.

yes he has been neutered. I managed to get some liquid de wormer down his throat today. I wrapped him tightly in a towel, oh how he howled and howled and wriggled and clawed. Got the 2 doses in. He wouldn't go near me for a long time .
I need to speak to the vet again about alternatives because these horse tablets they have given me I may as well throw in the bin.
The meat flavoured ones look great but are prescription only.

2 man job, squishy hold-all with zip, cat with head sticking out and on knee of one person, holding cat steady but not too tight around neck with the zip etc, just enough to keep claws in. Other person with a hard drinking straw puts tablet in the straw near the human mouth end, gently use one hand to open jaws and quickly blow tablet down straw into back of cats mouth before it turns away, shuts mouth, bites or gets claws out- follow up with a stiff drink and cuddle cat once it's forgiven you

Lick-e-lix works for me, my incredibly fussy cats devour it and I don't even crush the tabs anymore.

I put powdered stuff in their food. They don't notice. Boy is a huge hunter and is full of worms if not treated but they don't notice it in their dried food. Beophar or Clear worming granules from Amazon.

Granules sound good. It's the size of the bloody tablets, they would honestly teint anything.

Mine doesn't even like the prescription tablets. I use spot on for tapeworm and slather her with a paste for roundworm, both of which she detests but has less power to resist than conventional wormer.

Advocate for fleas. Monthly
A different spot on for worm. Profender? Every three months.
Both from vet.
