Help! Is my kitten going crazy?

Hello! Wonder if any of you could help me!

I have a rescue cat, vet presumed she must be 7-8 months old. She was spayed 10 days ago, her ovaries were removed only. Since then she MEOWS LIKE CRAZY!!!!!! And she runs away from us pretty much! (Don't get me wrong, she wasn't too friendly before lol I think she's still getting used to us!)

However, I read something about her hormones needing to balance. Do you think it might be this? Is this normal behaviour?

Second question: when we got her she was really skinny (400 g)... so she only got wet food for almost 2 months now. We try to get her to eat dry food as well, she won't eat it. Any tips?

Thanks you lovely people in advance Smile

There was something mentioned recently about cats having something left behind after being spayed, which can make them go a bit doolally. Someone will be along soon to tell you about it.

I don't think cats need dry food. Some might say it's good for their teeth. Do you buy supermarket dry food? Maybe the vet could recommend a prescription dry food for her.

Feeding her wet is ok, I would query the spaying, surely she's at risk of pyometra if the wombs are left in.?

Ilovebaconbutimonadiet · 13/06/2017 20:35

@Fluffycloudland77 no, she is not, there are 2 ways of spaying. One implies taking both the womb & ovaries out, one just the ovaries...

What's the point of leaving the womb in Confused

caffeinestream · 13/06/2017 21:05

I've never heard of a cat being spayed but the womb being left in Confused

Want2beme · 13/06/2017 21:11

Ilovebaconbutimonadiet it was a recent one. I'll take a look and see if I can find it.

Want2beme · 13/06/2017 21:25

I think most of us opt for everything out. Our females bounced back quickly.

Do you think she's in pain?

Ilovebaconbutimonadiet · 14/06/2017 11:35

@Fluffycloudland77 she's very young, so no need for the womb to be taken out

Off to the vet today! Thanks everyone!

Are you in the UK? That's definitely not standard round here!

Ilovebaconbutimonadiet · 15/06/2017 06:07
