Constant begging for Dreamies

That's such a weird thread title.

Anyway.

My cat's life has been taken over by bloody Dreamies. His world revolves around them. I (foolishly) introduced him to them about three months ago, and he is totally obsessed. I only have to rise from my chair for him to be yowling and begging. He is constantly standing by the cupboard where I keep them.

I have another cat, and he's totally not bothered. If he gets Dreamies, he gets them. Otherwise he doesn't give them much thought.

Should I make Cat 1 go cold turkey? It's getting extremely annoying! I love the creature but it's starting to wear me down!

No. Fucking. Clue.

Is his brain less.......inhabited than other cats? Wink

ILikeyourHairyHands · 27/01/2017 19:24

His brain is inhabited Cozie. With marbles.

DD has repurposed the Dreamie mouse as a cheese dispenser (no more sense than Big cat) and Big is busying himself with his Christmas catnip mouse.

Trustyourself2 · 27/01/2017 19:24

Wolfie, what have you raised, ha!

Londonjam · 27/01/2017 19:25

Come on Big you can do it

ILikeyourHairyHands · 27/01/2017 19:26

Catnip face.

Unfortunately he can't London, we have removed it from the vicinty to spare his shame.

ClaudiaWankleman · 27/01/2017 19:30

Catnima...

Maonima?

Londonjam · 27/01/2017 19:54

Maybe he was just above it ilike

ILikeyourHairyHands · 27/01/2017 20:12

He's above nothing London, he pissed in my slipper once.

And left a bright orange trail of regurgitated prawn heads on my lovely new handmade floor-cushion after a thieving incident.

He also shits in the bathroom sink.

He's a dick.

An affectionate, loveable, braindead, dick.

Who bites my calves in pursuit of edibles.

Tosser.

Londonjam · 27/01/2017 20:13

Hahaha!

ILikeyourHairyHands · 27/01/2017 21:12

Blob of shame on a pew.

That looks .......practiced! I mean - could he have chosen anything harder? (But still draught free I note.) You're meant to melt when you see it. Wink

ILikeyourHairyHands · 27/01/2017 21:44

Yes, poor, sad, Dreamieless Big. On his hard pew of shame.

I feel nothing.

RubbishMantra · 27/01/2017 22:00

It's the E.A. 8 hr cream in a tube Little M's drawn to Toddler. Sort of greasy salve type consistency. He's mad for it! It smells a bit peppery/cinnamon-ey... I've been using it for burns (new oven). He's like a cat possessed!

HairyHandsCat is definitely clever enough to make you feel like the guilty party. I call my cats dickheads on a daily basis, as in, 'But these are not just any dickheads, these are my dickheads.'

Toddlerteaplease · 27/01/2017 22:28

Just laughed out loud at the "soothing m&s tones"

Alakazam7 · 28/01/2017 08:15

I'd be happy with the dreamies!
I got some more expensive treats for my cat for Christmas that you can only get from a certain pet shop quite a distance from where I live.
Despite loving dreamies before, he will now spit dreamies out (all flavours, I've tried!) and asks for the other treats instead! He can't work the mouse either but doesn't appear inhibited of brain!

sashh · 28/01/2017 08:18

Mine loves the little cat mouse.

I foolishly gave her odd bits of ham or chicken from the fridge, I now can't open the fridge without a 'whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa' and if there is ham or chicken coming her way she tries to climb up my leg.

There adverts are spot on, even in other languages

ememem84 · 28/01/2017 08:21

Mine comes running for dreamie she when I shake the pack. She was a semi-feral rescue. So we used dreamies as a way of coaxing her out of various hiding places.

She goes nuts for the cheese ones.

They do make her do the most awful cheese farts though 🐈💨

WankersHacksandThieves · 02/02/2017 15:48

Status Update!!!!!!

WankerCat can get dreamies from the mousey.

She's a few tentative goes at it - optimal level of success seems to be starting with it just over half full - and been occasionally successful.

I left it in that position this morning, maybe a dozen dreamies in it, came home to find it with only one in and cat looking expectantly at me. Went upstairs to gather a load of laundry, came down to it completely empty.

Maybe she isn't completely thick, just a bit of a slow learner :o

abigamarone · 02/02/2017 16:11

I trained mine to sit, shake a paw and roll over on the strength of a couple of dreamies. The really greedy one will come and roll over on the floor on the off chance now and then.

NotAPuffin · 02/02/2017 16:34

We've tried the mouse.

FloofyCat is brain damaged and can barely coordinate eating a treat if you put it in her mouth for her; I'm not sure she even registered the presence of the mouse. OriginalFloofyCat (pre the damage) would have done anything to get the food out, then gotten overheated and had to have a lie-down, much like a plump middle-aged woman after a spin class.

DaintyCat wouldn't deign to interact with it. She's far too grown up for childish games, and she wouldn't want to mess up her impeccable elbow length white gloves before dinner.

WankersHacksandThieves · 03/02/2017 11:00

We now have mousey crisus. Camee down this morning and Wankercat is sitting looking hopeful at empty mousey. Put 10 dreamies in it (half of the maximum recommended and she had them all out and eaten in 30 seconds! Then she sat looking hopeful at it again and then kept chucking it about wanting more treats. I tried putting one dreamie in mixed with normal crunchies.......she was not amused.

What else can I put in it that wouldn't overdo the salty dreamie quota but would still be attractive to her?

Weedsnseeds1 · 03/02/2017 11:44

How about those freeze dried duck or chicken treats. You know, the ones that cost about £1000 for a 5g pack?

WankersHacksandThieves · 03/02/2017 11:48

Hmm, I don't have £1k to spend on cat treats :o

I'll look into that though. Probably need to get to a proper pet shop for a browse rather than just the supermarket.
