Constant begging for Dreamies

That's such a weird thread title.

Anyway.

My cat's life has been taken over by bloody Dreamies. His world revolves around them. I (foolishly) introduced him to them about three months ago, and he is totally obsessed. I only have to rise from my chair for him to be yowling and begging. He is constantly standing by the cupboard where I keep them.

I have another cat, and he's totally not bothered. If he gets Dreamies, he gets them. Otherwise he doesn't give them much thought.

Should I make Cat 1 go cold turkey? It's getting extremely annoying! I love the creature but it's starting to wear me down!

Oddly enough, liver Lick E Lix is Seniorboy's very favourite.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/01/2017 13:32

And Pucinni's too- loves it!

WankersHacksandThieves · 27/01/2017 13:42

Wankercat got the little mouse from Santa. Wankercat has worked out how it works. How it works is that you sit beside mousy and stare longingly at passing humans and then back to mousy and repeat until human learns that you need them to kick the hell out of mousy so he gives up treats.

Having said that, Wankercat did attempt a few small paw pushes at mousy the other day, unfortunately mousy was empty at the time so we are back to the sad face longing stares again.

cozietoesie · 27/01/2017 13:43

I'm pleased that your own training is progressing so well. Smile

ILikeyourHairyHands · 27/01/2017 13:45

I wish I'd never brought effing Dreamies into the house, bastardcat vigorously bites my calves until I capitulate.

May try one of the toy thingies (or armour).

WankersHacksandThieves · 27/01/2017 13:47

:o Ours is actually quite difficult to get the stuff out - It needs a few decent kicks with added slice (to achieve spin) to get them to come out. I suspect wankercat is simply not up to the job. I think she is the Labrador of the feline world. Likes her grub, isn't very bright but is also cute and can make you do anything for her.

I've got a 4 month old kitten who is so desperate for food at all times that she's worked out how to open the cupboards. I cannot leave any food (packaged or otherwise) in a room she's in because she becomes demented. If she gets in the room at mealtimes, she leaps at the table repeatedly, yowling for food. She's well fed and well cared for. I am NOT introducing her to dreamies, I can't even imagine her on crack. She's already a food addict.

Londonjam · 27/01/2017 13:53

OP when we move we totally spoil Max for a bit, I think that's allowed

He doesn't beg for treats, I think he forgets them / is too stupid. He asks for his regular biscuits though if his feeder needs topping up.

The other day I opened the shower curtain to find him sitting on the bath mat waiting. His biscuit feeder needed topping up 🙄

Wolfiefan · 27/01/2017 13:54

One of mine has broken into a neighbour's house and (with the help of neighbour's own cat) helped herself to Dreamies.
The shame. Blush

Londonjam · 27/01/2017 13:55

Hahahaha wolfie! 😂

WankersHacksandThieves · 27/01/2017 14:03

How did the manufacturers get the mouse so wrong?

Style over substance?

Although I think the idea is that it keeps your cat occupied all day trying to get the Dreamies out, I don't think it's meant to be emptied in 10 seconds flat.

However, I think they have overestimated the attention span of the average moggie - I also don't think the Dreamies aroma lasts long enough to help maintain interest.

cozietoesie · 27/01/2017 15:07

The Lodger would pay no attention to a fabric mouse.

It wouldn't do anything! Smile

WankersHacksandThieves · 27/01/2017 15:34

In action!

hollinhurst84 · 27/01/2017 15:45

Lick e lix i bought for ollie, all buoyed up that cats adore it. He looked at it and then at me and ran out the room
Stable cat bit me because I wasn't getting it out fast enough, she put the end of the tube in her mouth and inhaled Blush

RubbishMantra · 27/01/2017 15:49

Sadly the mouse dispenser would be ignored here. I got MCat a ball treat dispenser for his Dreamies, and he looked at me like I was meting out a cruel and unusual punishment. Leave a packet of cat crack out, and he knows how to rip that open, no problem cx.

Little M's a bit 'meh' about them. Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream - he goes mental trying to lick it off my hands. Confused

cozietoesie · 27/01/2017 16:01

It just rocks though whereas real mice scurry and dive. That's what The Lodger enjoys. (I've watched the blighter in the garden. Shock)

CaoNiMa · 27/01/2017 16:27

Rubbish, my other cat (not the Dreamies fiend) always comes running if I am applying 8 Hour cream or other unguents. He likes coconut oil too.

I just had a flashback to the Biltong Incident of 2012. A friend brought me a bag back from South Africa, and I foolishly left it on the kitchen table overnight. Dawn broke to reveal a scene of carnage. Biltong EVERYWHERE, cats in a beefy daze, like Tudor noblemen after a feast.

Beware! Our elderly, 'traditionally built' cat stole an opened packet of Dreamies after he was given only one Dreamie.
Cue expensive visit to the vet a few hours later, frantic with worry. It would appear he overdosed on them and got a bit bunged up. He hates Dreamies now.

Badcat666 · 27/01/2017 16:39

Dreamies are the crack cocaine for cats.

My little one (who died last year) was the same... I kept them near the sofa and if I dared move the packet he would come running like a nutter, even if he was in sleep mode. My other 2 don't give a crap

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/01/2017 17:22

Pucinni stole a whole packet of them as well, seems like we had a lucky escape then ,a vet's bill would've been a nasty surprise!

Toddlerteaplease · 27/01/2017 17:37

Little M, likes face cream? Hmm that's interesting!! Just had to fish a large plastic of plastic out of Fatty's mouth. She'd clearly decided she'd bitten off more than she could chew, literally. But wasn't going to spit it out! That cat will be the death of me! She can have all the treats she likes as long as it's not plastic!

TroysMammy · 27/01/2017 17:57

Troy ate about 5 Dreamies and vomited. I have never seen so much sick in my life. He never had Dreamies again. Lick-e-lix was a godsend in getting his heart medication in him though.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 27/01/2017 19:12

Hmm, just bought Big a Dreamies mouse at Waitrose. He gives not one shit, keeps sniffing it then running to the Dreamies tin with a 'give me the goddamn Dreamies woman' look on his face. I rolled it around and he was thrilled with the result but seems unable to make the Logical Fucking Connection.

His sister Small would have worked it out in seconds, sadly Small is no longer here to show thick-boy the way.
