So pending a successful home check

we should hopefully be getting this little boy. Meet Blue. A one year old moggy. He was picked up as a tiny stray and was nearly pts as a kitten because he has IBS. His lovely nature has saved him. He will need a special diet and steroids when it flares up but he's never had a home because of this. He is a lot smaller that those photos show. He weighs 2.2kg and is all skin and bone. We are hoping with a controlled diet like he is on already and a home with as little stress as possible, he will gain some weight.

Tootsie is going to spit feathers.... But look how fucking smug Dh is. It will be his cat you see. He and toots have never gelled properly

Any tips on introducing them?

But I've had an incontient dog and the current cat we have has to be controlled by diet too so it's not a big jump to have an IBS car

We will be his first ever home if successful. He's never even been fostered as people keep offering then backing out when his problems become known

poor little thing. I got a cat in September who's never had a home before, she was found at 5 months and then in the shelter for almost a year. She's like a kitten now, investigating everything. She also has some stomach problems because of parasites from eating meat thrown out of a butchers. She's parasite free now but she has stomach problems when she's stressed, although fortunately she hasn't since she came here (I don't know how, she was terrified).

I think having a home will make a huge difference!

I'd definitely try him on something grain free, which the royal canin food isn't. I don't personally raw feed but I know people who have had miraculous results with raw food. My cat's favourite food is cheap Whiskas biscuits (what she was fed at the shelter). I bought a bag when we got her as that what she had been used to but her poos were really smelly and loose and kept getting stuck in her fluffy little bloomers on her hind legs. Switched her to a grain free, mainly wet food diet and have seen a huge improvement. Might help a cat with ibs too. I occasionally let her have a small handful of the biscuits we have left as a treat but have to be careful as if she has too many we end up with poo issues again.

Forgot to say he's a lovely looking cat. He reminds me a lot of my lovely girl. With the ibs keep a careful eye on the fur around his rear end. Mine can get herself into a bit of a prickly if her poos are loose as the fur around her bottom, tail and hind legs is especially long and fluffy. I have to keep it groomed well to keep it clean and prevent matts from starting to form.

I've been giving her thrive wet without any problems, but I'm letting her have some food that isn't grain free. She still has the royal canin gastro intestinal dry and James wellbeloved dry. Recently tried the James wellbeloved wet which was well received. I adopted another cat at the same time (his problem was with his skin/coat) and he's liked it too. To be honest I've struggled to find other decent complete wet food, most of it is supplementary.

The shelter said she only ate dry food, but here she will literally eat anything she sees now (whether edible or not). Zooplus has worked out cheaper for everything. I've considered raw but I've been vegetarian most of my life so it would be difficult. Still debating it.

I've seen a company who sells raw mince suitable for cats in a little pre-packed pouch which minimises how much I have to faff around with it

Will speak to the rescue before any major changes though

He's a pretty cat. If he hates being in the shelter his stomach problems may be alleviated a bit by being in a stable home ( unless him and existing cat fall out big time. I think you need to do the slow introduction thing, but you are so kind to choose a hard to home cat.
