Darling cat missing - please hold my hand

My darling furry soulmate has gone missing and I'm absolutely distraught Sad

She's a six year old black and white and I've had her since she was five weeks old (I rescued her from being dispensed of by some horrible people).

I don't know what to do. I can't stop crying. I've notified the microchip people, put up some posters and posted some flyers.

She's always back in the house at exactly 9pm every evening, you could set your watch by her. But she didn't come home last night and there's been no sign of her all day.

I just need a wee hand hold. I can't stand the thought she's alone and scared somewhere Sad

It's an awful feeling right enough. Fingers crossed for her.

Any news OP? Thinking of youFlowers

OttersPocket · 13/10/2016 17:00

No news I'm afraid but thanks for the support everyone.

I've just made 200 flyers to put through letterboxes and I'm going to go out at midnight when it's quiet in case I can hear her meowing.

It's so hard to not break down completely!

Poor you. Here's hoping she's been locked in a garage somewhere and will soon be back safe and sound.

DesolateWaist · 13/10/2016 18:55

Hand holding here.
Nothing makes me happier than when I know my girl is home safe for the night.

Ausernotanumber · 13/10/2016 18:55

Oh gosh. Hope you find her xx

timtam23 · 13/10/2016 21:30

I am so sorry Otters, any sign of her? Have you tried leaving some used cat litter outside, also hang her bedding out and put some dust from the hoover bag outside? All would give her a scent of home to follow. Best of luck xx

Mistykit · 13/10/2016 22:51

Knock on neighbour's doors tomorrow to ask them if they could check their sheds in case she got locked in. My cat went missing for 2 days and a neighbour (on another road) asked if I wanted to try and call the cat from her garden to see if she could hear me from there. Luckily, I found her stuck up that neighbour's tree (20 feet up the damn tree) as soon as I started calling her.

Lunde · 13/10/2016 22:56

Walk the neighbourhood to see if she has been shut in somewhere - we have previously found our cats locked in garages (twice) and locked in a potato barn.

Our youngest rescue kitten disappeared recently and was found 36 hours later hiding in a bush petrified - don't know what scared her.

Is your kitty chipped/earmarked?

Milzilla · 13/10/2016 22:58

Fingers x you get your girl back soon xx

AmberNectarine · 13/10/2016 23:24

Really hope she comes casually strolling in.

OttersPocket · 13/10/2016 23:41

Thanks for the support and tips, I'm following them all.

I have a supportive DH but he's really not good at empathy and, although he's being very good at going out looking for her, doesn't really understand why I'm so very upset.

I know I'm probably anthropomorphising too much but I can't stop thinking about her trapped and lonely and wondering why I'm not there to help her Confused Sad

I just need to know what's happened to her and then I'll be able to cope better.

Sorry for the outpouring! I just don't have anyone to speak with so freely IRL.

I'm still awake Otters and just checked your thread hoping for good news, so sorry she's still missing Sad
You are doing all you can. I completely get how worried you must be.
Our old girl, who passed away in July, once went missing for 4 nights. We'd just moved house and she managed to slip out. I could hardly bear it. Luckily for us she was found in a garage, very hungry and thirsty but otherwise fine. She lived to the grand old age of 18!
Anyway I am thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed for a good outcome.
Ps my DH doesn't really 'get' my love for my cat, some men are just that way!

MsMims · 14/10/2016 01:08

Flowers for you OP. It's awful when they go missing. I remember the despair well.

She is likely to be close to home. Get down on your hands and knees to check bushes, ask neighbours if you can check their gardens - you will be more thorough. She may not react vocally so leave no stone left unturned - look everywhere you can. Check sheds and garages.

Go out when it's quiet, call her then keep still and just listen. Depending on where she is you may hear her faintly.

Check with local vets on the off chance she comes to them and her microchip doesn't scan. This happened with a cat I found, he was microchipped but it had stopped working. Had a happy ending as he was reunited with his owners via the local cats protection league. If his owners hadn't called in they probably wouldn't have got him back.

Have any neighbours had deliveries the day she went missing?

Flood the area with posters, lots of kind people will give you a call providing they know she's missing. Unlike dogs, it's not always easy to tell if a cat is lost. Hope that makes sense!

Best of luck

HelenaDove · 14/10/2016 01:11

Handhold here, my boy was missing for 8 days and I was beyond frantic

joangray38 · 14/10/2016 02:27

I do hope you get her back. Have you rung round the kcal cat shelters and vets - and keep doing it in case she is brought in?
