Does anyone sing their cats to sleep?

Please reassure me I'm not a complete weirdo!

I sing to mine in the car if we are going to the vets. They seem to prefer Sherlock Holmes audiobooks. Can't think why.

Husband changes sings "PicklePig, PicklePig, PickPockPig, PicklePiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig" to the cat to the Diners, Drive Ins & Dives theme tune.
I don't sing to the cat. He wouldn't like it.

DH and I used to call it food porn, we'd watch it before dinner. Unless Masterchef was on. Which is obviously the top-end of food porn.

It actually upsets my cat when I sing because I have such an awful voice.

I had a cat that adored me singing "You've Got A Friend" by Carole King to her.

She would chirrup along with me. When she died I buried her with the lyrics

I saw the title of this thread and immediately thought "I bet RubbishMantra does!"

Not quite - but when Bogbastard has to have his many adventures combed or washed out of his fur, he is greatly soothed by DS' tuneless rendition of Londons Burning. I can only assume that neither DS nor Bogbastard are blessed with great musical talent!

I have a hideous singing voice Bog, but they seem to like it. I now have an amusing image of you washing BogBastard, DS desperately singing a song about burning in the background. Maybe BB takes it as a threat and is scared into submission?

Little M has a tuneless voice, mostly "errrr" type noises, but MCat has quite a pretty little proper miaow, except when he's yowling into corners.

There was a band playing at our local pub, (posted about this before) and Little M was singing along. At first I thought they'd chosen a backing singer with an....unusual voice.

My cats used to get really excited if I sang the Home & Away theme tune. I was really perplexed until I realised that they probably thought I was singing about 'play' which is one of the words they know.

They also like that one too Cherylene.

Little M gets all riled up and excited when he hears the Hamish McBeth theme tune and incidental music. Does a sort of little Riverdance of joy.

That is sweet . I have no cat. I will have to try some of these on my friend's while I am cat-sitting (before she takes my arm off - a bit of a tiger )

Not so much singing but I do dance with mine. She likes to groove to "Night fever" (paws outstretched, forward rolls, side steps...)

Oh Loopy, I wish my cats would dance with me.

However, Little M does do slow forward rolls down the stairs, with his claws digging into the carpet to keep the brakes on.

When I saw the thread title I lagged and thought to myself - at least I'm not quite there yet! And then I remembered the times Beastie cat was ill and stressed, or got upset on the way to the vets and I tried singing to her - unfortunately she was none too impressed.

I've also had a dance with Special cat occasionally - also not impressed.

DP sang to BorpCat1 yesterday, a ditty about all the ways in which she is better and more important and a finer kitty than BorpCat2. It was't a lullabye, though.

I use to sing to my cat, she hated it, so much so she'd meow and put her paw over my mouth! 😆

Never sing them to sleep but I've been known to 'treat' my cats to an impromptu karaoke session. Sometimes I will perform a dance routine as well. Living in a very quiet house/area, they look bemused for a few minutes, feign interest then close their eyes and go back to more important matters, like sleeping
