Does anyone sing their cats to sleep?

I do, and they seem to particularly like "Asleep" by The Smiths.

Please reassure me I'm not a complete weirdo!

No, the cat sings enough as it is, don't want to encourage him Grin

Aww, I do love a picture of your PicklePig. You never know, he might be philosophising behind those kind eyes. You know, mind on important things like quantum physics...Grin

Maybe you should try a singalong of Puccini's favourite opera songs Dame. He'd probably be in Cat Heaven!

Little M loves a singing/dance combo. He can do a very good riverdance, Botanic. When we brought him home, he had a poo in his litterbox, and announced it with a little riverdance of joy, with (his version of) singing. I wonder if Michael Flatley does that?

I also sing "hey hey kitten" over and over on the way to the vets especially as it's nearly an hour away as we use the PDSA hospital

Botanicbaby · 13/08/2016 20:29

love all these stories of people singing to their cats, I've always talked to mine and they've all invariably been 'treated' to hairbrush karaoke for one sessions and survived to tell the tale!

OP i have image of a cat doing irish river dance moves in the litter tray now….sums it up perfectly Grin

Pickle pig always looks intelligent though. He's intelligent enough to have people attend to his every whim.

laidbackneko · 14/08/2016 11:08

Why do cats do a song and dance after doing a poo?

RubbishMantra · 14/08/2016 19:04

Probably because (from a human point of view) there's nothing like having a good crap! Grin

PicklePig really really isn't intelligent.
I read a book once about cat intelligence. It had a quiz in the back. PicklePig scored very low, he was in the lowest category. The one labelled 'probably needs extra help'.
It's was very accurate.
I read that a good indicator of cat intelligence is how they react when they see their reflection in a mirror.
We have tried many many times to get PicklePig to even see his own reflection in a mirror. He just can't. It doesn't register with him at all, even if we stand in front of the mirror with him, pointing to the mirror and showing him himself he just doesn't get it at all.
TL:DR. PicklePig is ever so thick.
But yes, he's managed to get two even more thick humans to be his willing slaves! :)
This is one of my favourite pics of him. Look at those eyes. Nothing going on at all behind them Grin

Yes but he's beautiful! Grin

RubbishMantra · 16/08/2016 00:22

Does he do a lot of catnip?

OP posts:
Germgirl · 16/08/2016 17:17

He didn't really affected by catnip. I think he's too thick!
Occasionally he will give his catnip mouse a desultory chew but not often. He doesn't play with toys at all really.
Poor old PicklePig. He's really very very thick :)
Thank you hollin. Can Ollie see his reflection in a mirror?

hollinhurst84 · 16/08/2016 17:48

No. Well I don't think he's ever looked to be honest! He knows it's not another cat

Germgirl · 16/08/2016 18:20

Pickle can't even see it. This is apparently an important thing in the world of cat intelligence estimation. :)

Do you mean mentally unstable people tom?

If singing to my cats makes me mentally unstable, then I'm happy to take that title. Smile

My cats are mad anyway, so we make a good family. Grin

Botanic, thankfully Little M has a covered tray, so the dancing happens when he emerges. Accompanied by a little trill of joy.

If you want to imagine something really weird, imagine Michael Flatly, Lord Of the Dance, doing the same. Grin

I didn't think cats needed any help falling asleep. Grin

WalkerBait · 16/08/2016 22:58

I sing let it go to my cat if I need her to go out Grin

According to my 3 and 5 year old, I sound like the cat!!!! Hmm
