Best toys for kitten obsessed with playing fetch?

We have an almost 5 month old kitten who is obsessed with playing fetch with hair bobbles. He can go for hours and even woke me up last night dropping a bobble on my face for me to throw for him. I was thinking about trying to expand his repertoire a bit.
So far I have tried a dangly feather toy thing, that was a no and balls also a no. He also hates anything with bells on. Any ideas of something that will spare me from hours of repetitive bobble throwing?

Laser pen?

We always had great success with the little foil bows you stick on presents - light enough to bring back in kitten mouth, not too light that you can't throw them a good distance. Also rolled up foil and biscuit wrappers.

Ours used to like fetching a ball made from scrunched up kitchen foil. He'd chase & fetch for ages, it was so cute. Sadly he'd outgrown fetching by about six months.

Get a pet fly. My cat will follow and torment a fly for days.

Oh no I hope he doesn't out grow the fetching! It's really sweet(apart from when he wakes me to play). Thanks for the ideas. I'd forgotten all about laser pens, that might be a goer!
I'll leave the windows open tomorrow to see if I can entice a pet fly to come and play , I do like the idea of a cat toy that requires no human input.

Sweetie papers. Our cat used to do it only with them. They were called flickies as you had to-well, flick them. And of course there is another bonus to them.

We had a pet fly today.
BigCat murdered it though. It seems he wasn't fond of the new pet.

Simbathegingerlion has mini mice toys from pets at home and tesco that he fetches me and lovingly carries around the house to cuddle.

My fetch player liked those little cloth mice you get as well as hair bobbles.

Btw, have you tried brandishing the bobble and then instead of throwing it slipping it on to your wrist instead...completely confused mine every time, for 12 whole years, lol

My old cat loved playing with the plastic rings from round the milk carton. Didnt have to throw them for him though.

I'm wondering if there is a self service cat toy throwing device. I have seen them for dogs.

Wine corks, scrunched up silver paper, those little twist-tie sandwich bag things, walnuts - one of my previous cats had a secret hidden stash of Christmas decorations he'd pinched off the tree. Every now and again one would turn up, and he'd be batting it round the kitchen floor to his heart's content.

I'm afraid that that best toy is probably called a person, Succulent.

Oh definitely scrunched up foil or even better, shiny paper that has had something minty in it!

Our cat LOVED a tin foil ball when she was wee and would fetch it back for ages. She's 17 now and hasn't fetched for years, but will give a foil ball the occasional shrewd glance when she feels like it

I bought a pair of shoe insoles that I had to trim down, the tabby likes to throw the trimmings in the air to catch them. I put them in a drawer in the living room and he worked out how to open it and drag them out. Keeps him happy for ages.

That's true. Hiding things and letting them discover them seems to be much more satisfying.

Small, soft bouncy ball? My old cat used to fetch it back for me to throw again.
Cat I've got now loves me to throw his ball, he doesn't fetch it but runs around like crazy after it.
He likes his toy mouse too, runs around the house with it in his mouth.

My recently departed cat loved the bouncy mousey from Pets a Home. It had a different squeak to his other toys. It cost £4 and attached to the door frame and it was thoroghly mauled in a few days.

He also loved a squeaky feathered bird also from P@H. He would carry that everywhere and drop it in his food bowl as a hint to fill it up.

Mine also loves foil balls!! It's crazy!!

Another one suggesting foil! Dcat (sadly no longer with us) would spend hours retrieving a small, rolled up ball of silver foil. We'd throw it, he'd fetch it in his mouth, run back and drop it at our feet. You could see his body quivering with anticipation waiting for us to throw it again

One of my cats used to like playing with the plastic used to hold cans of pop/beer together. He would find them outside and bring them home.

Another cat would love playing with Celebrations chocolate wrappers after I had eaten the chocolates. I used to find loads under the sofa.

Our kitten (coming up one year now so not really a kitten) has a small mouse toy which rustles slightly which he he loves playing fetch with. He will also play with it quite happily on his own. He also likes screwed up receipts and, if we ever buy one, lottery tickets. He can tell as soon as you get it check what's going on, I also take as a sign that it's not a winning ticket!

Ours loves bubbles but you have to blow them for him.

my first cat loved to play "fetch!" ...he loved paper, he would chase a crumpled tissue, but really liked something with a crinkle to it, so an envelope with a window was his most favourite

till receipts and five pound notes also passed muster in a push

he also adored those giant brown paper bags that safeway used to give out, he'd run from one side of the room headlong into it, then run dementedly round the room IN THE BAG as his back legs would still be outside the bag, and he'd do this until he managed to make a hole in the bottom so he could run through it like a tunnel!!
