Best toys for kitten obsessed with playing fetch?

We have an almost 5 month old kitten who is obsessed with playing fetch with hair bobbles. He can go for hours and even woke me up last night dropping a bobble on my face for me to throw for him. I was thinking about trying to expand his repertoire a bit.
So far I have tried a dangly feather toy thing, that was a no and balls also a no. He also hates anything with bells on. Any ideas of something that will spare me from hours of repetitive bobble throwing?

It sounds like your kitten has a lot of energy and loves to play! Here are some toy suggestions that may pique his interest and provide some variety in his playtime:

Interactive puzzle toys: These toys can stimulate your kitten's problem-solving skills and keep him entertained for longer periods of time. Try a treat-dispensing puzzle toy or a ball that dispenses treats as it rolls around.

Fishing rod toys: These toys have a long wand with a feather or toy attached to the end that mimics prey. They are great for interactive play with your kitten, and you can control the movement of the toy to keep him engaged.

Crinkle balls: These balls make a crinkling sound when they are played with, which some cats find irresistible. They are lightweight and easy for your kitten to carry around and play fetch with.

Catnip toys: Many cats are attracted to catnip, which can provide a fun and stimulating experience for them. Try a catnip-filled toy, such as a plush mouse or ball, to see if your kitten enjoys it.

Laser pointer: A laser pointer can provide endless entertainment for your kitten. Just be sure to never shine the laser in his eyes and to provide a physical toy for him to "catch" at the end of the play session.

Remember to supervise your kitten during playtime to ensure his safety and never leave him alone with toys that he could ingest or choke on.

Pipecleaners, a few different colors, folded over to about 3-4 inches long, then twist the ends to make a bone shape. Easy to flick up with claws and get jold of with teeth, so they get brought back. Soft yet weighty, too.

Mine didn't grow out of it! He did it till he got too ill.
Anyone else's like the cat games on you tube? Billy loves them, looks under the iPad for the mice. Mac just looks at me like I'm mad.

Faerie likes those crinkly cellophane things that hold lids on jars....she appears from nowhere if she hears one, and she never plays with anything, she's far to regal for nonsense.

but those and big fat flies are her dirty little secret. She holds the fly in her mouth for a second or two and then crunches it all up looking as smug as smug can be.

They do grow out of the fetch stage sorry.... But mine (half Siamese now 2) loved and loves foil scrunched, small or larger teddy bears or cuddly toys (he loved an IKEA white rat, small penguin, orange rustly fish I got in gran canaria etc.

He also loved and still likes playtime with laser pen.

Straws! One of mine is obsessed by them (he's 3 now, definitely not a kitten.) God help you if you actually want to use a straw to drink through!

Bogbastard loves foil scrunchies which you can get cheaply from Pets at Home. Enjoys playing fetch but also dribbles them all over the hard floor like a feline Match of the Day. Little jingly sparkly balls have the same effect - we often fall asleep to the sound of a jingly ball being dribbled all around the darkened downstairs Smile

Busymum bubbles reminded me of one of the cats I had. He used to love them, and one day I was visited by my sister and baby niece. Baby was on antibiotics and when my sister was jiggling the bottle to get the medicine out the cat sat in front of her mewing. We realised he thought she had bubbles and wanted to play.

Our last cat had a thing about empty fag packets and used to bring them in regularly through the cat flap and drop them proudly at our feet!
I suspect he'd do better these days since the indoor smoking ban Wink

I was gonna say Pom poms from kids craft sets! Though we did actually buy them in a set of cat toys. They love them!

Tinfoil balls. Paper balls. The cardboard insert from toilet rolls, even better if toilet paper remains. Stress balls. Lid from body shop spray (have tried others). Shoe laces. Laser pointers.
Not sure how they managed it. But they dragged a box of dry food upstairs. It was on the side with a bit in , in the kitchen. No one in, came back to food on the floor and the box upstairs.

We had a pet fly. Poor thing didn't last long. Skinny kitten happily chasing it around. Doing that weird chattering. Fat bastard brother(really fluffy so looks fat) comes in, takes a swing and had a nice snack.. Skinny kitten looked so sad. So it's 50/50 how kitty will take to fly.

my first cat loved to play "fetch!" ...he loved paper, he would chase a crumpled tissue, but really liked something with a crinkle to it, so an envelope with a window was his most favourite

till receipts and five pound notes also passed muster in a push

he also adored those giant brown paper bags that safeway used to give out, he'd run from one side of the room headlong into it, then run dementedly round the room IN THE BAG as his back legs would still be outside the bag, and he'd do this until he managed to make a hole in the bottom so he could run through it like a tunnel!!

Ours loves bubbles but you have to blow them for him.

Our kitten (coming up one year now so not really a kitten) has a small mouse toy which rustles slightly which he he loves playing fetch with. He will also play with it quite happily on his own. He also likes screwed up receipts and, if we ever buy one, lottery tickets. He can tell as soon as you get it check what's going on, I also take as a sign that it's not a winning ticket!
I did buy him a paper ball and this was the result Grin

One of my cats used to like playing with the plastic used to hold cans of pop/beer together. He would find them outside and bring them home.

Another cat would love playing with Celebrations chocolate wrappers after I had eaten the chocolates. I used to find loads under the sofa.

Another one suggesting foil! Dcat (sadly no longer with us) would spend hours retrieving a small, rolled up ball of silver foil. We'd throw it, he'd fetch it in his mouth, run back and drop it at our feet. You could see his body quivering with anticipation waiting for us to throw it again Smile

The pom-poms that you get in kids' craft sets, my cat used to rush around with a big pink one clasped in his jaws Grin

My recently departed cat loved the bouncy mousey from Pets a Home. It had a different squeak to his other toys. It cost £4 and attached to the door frame and it was thoroghly mauled in a few days.

He also loved a squeaky feathered bird also from P@H. He would carry that everywhere and drop it in his food bowl as a hint to fill it up.

Small, soft bouncy ball? My old cat used to fetch it back for me to throw again.
Cat I've got now loves me to throw his ball, he doesn't fetch it but runs around like crazy after it.
He likes his toy mouse too, runs around the house with it in his mouth.

That's true. Smile Hiding things and letting them discover them seems to be much more satisfying.

I bought a pair of shoe insoles that I had to trim down, the tabby likes to throw the trimmings in the air to catch them. I put them in a drawer in the living room and he worked out how to open it and drag them out. Keeps him happy for ages.

Oh definitely scrunched up foil or even better, shiny paper that has had something minty in it!

Our cat LOVED a tin foil ball when she was wee and would fetch it back for ages. She's 17 now and hasn't fetched for years, but will give a foil ball the occasional shrewd glance when she feels like it Grin
