a cat has camped out on our doorstep; what next?

we already feed a stray cat- she lives in our shed and has done for the last three years. (trapped and neutered). Another stray was very kindly adopted by a MNetter's (fenneltea) mam

However a week ago a ginger and white tom sat on our doormat at the back and hasn't shifted since. He is very clean and friendly but won't go away, clawing and meowing at the back door and desperately tries to push his way in when we go out. We put a bowl of food out and he hoovered it up licking the plate around on the patio. He pats on the glass door with his paw

He's been done and doesn't spray and has a nick taken out of one of his ears

Most importantly he appears to be the first cat that dh doesn't come out with hives with or itchy, sneezing , watery eyes etc

he is currently asleep on my chair Grin

what can we do next?

What a wonderful update - Sherlock looks so happy! :-)

Sleepingtom · 18/11/2015 18:48

Aw how lovely :-)

TheRattleBag · 18/11/2015 19:26

I'm sniffling slightly here 'cos this has such a happy ending!

I too took in a ginger stray just while he recuperated from the op.... and he's never left. Wouldn't be without him now though :-)

Merrybertie · 18/11/2015 19:41

what a lovely update, he looks so comfy by that fire, so at home. I'm really pleased for you all

Destinysdaughter · 18/11/2015 20:14

Aw love a happy ending, so pleased for you all! Smile

cozietoesie · 18/11/2015 23:03

I'm so pleased Gatekeeper. Smile I had a good feeling about it all.

Is DH quietly pleased?

NeuNewNouveau · 18/11/2015 23:16

Just saw this and read all the way through, what a lovely ending Smile

sashh · 19/11/2015 05:49

Good news, Shelock obviously is his own cat and knows what he wants in a home.

Gatekeeper · 19/11/2015 08:16

cozie quietly pleased ??? Grin hahaha- Mr I-hate-all-cats-boot-them-up-the-bot is hand feeding him Dreamies and singing him a song (which seems to be entitled 'go to sleep Mr Cat') and congratulating him on doing a 'nice big plop in the litter tray- clever boy' etc etc

soppy sod

chemenger · 19/11/2015 12:13

This is fabulous news. He looks so at home in the picture, a perfect outcome for everyone involved. Some things are meant to be.

Gatekeeper · 24/11/2015 18:13

he is so very much at home; I was waltzing him round the room earlier singing him songs from Oklahoma and he was purring like a steam engine

here he is asleep

Awww, he looks lovely. Don't forget to get his microchip details transferred to you just in case he goes walkabout.

Gorgeous boy.

Is DH enslaved? Smile

(I'm guessing that this is his first real cat what with the allergy and all.)

Gatekeeper · 25/11/2015 08:33

cozie dh's first cat and he is daft about him...calls him his 'fluffy cat boy' etc etc and 'speaks' in the cat's voice IYKWIM Grin. This is from a no-nonsense blunt Northern man who says he taught the SAS everything they know!

What a rollercoaster of a thread! Gatekeeper Grin so glad your Sherlock (or Holt or whoever) has his happy home! Do the DC get a look in with the cat - presumably their first also?

slicedfinger · 25/11/2015 10:53

That is utterly lovely. I was so sad for you when his owners were found. Happy endings all round :-)
