A lady found one of my cats in the gutter on my road. It had just happened, my daughters cat, she's at a festival I can't tell her. I am alone. I have other cats and always thought they were quite safe. Quiet road, 20 mph. Oh God he was the sweetest little cat called Bambi.

RIP Bambi. Don't worry about telling your daughter til she's home. Make yourself a hot drink with some sugar.

LargeGoldAtrociousCunt · 22/08/2015 14:20

I'm so sorry op Thanks

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 22/08/2015 14:21

Poor little Bambi. What a cute name for a cat. Flowers

paulapompom · 22/08/2015 14:22

Thank you all so much. I know I'm being over the top, but a main reason for renting this house was cos I thought the road was so quiet and safe. I have had a shit year - only cats and kids have kept me going. He was so gentle and just wanted to look after everyone. I am going to go out and get a treat for myoother cats. Then probably open the vodka x

Flowers so sorry for your loss. I would go right ahead and open the vodka x

snowaccidentprone · 22/08/2015 14:25

Oh no. How awful.

Big (unmumsnetty) hugs and have Brew

A dog was run over on our road earlier this year. We (the owner, a neighbour and I) dashed her to the vets, but she was too badly injured. I cried when I got home, and I didn't know the dog or the owner!

I've also had cats run over, and have cried for at least a week.

ColdSancerre · 22/08/2015 14:33

I'm so sorry paula, it is such a shock and so sad. Are you at home on your own or do you have someone to talk to?

paulapompom · 22/08/2015 14:35

Thank you, accepting all the hugs and everything else. My dds boyfriend went to get dd a 'pedigree ' kitten and was sold foxy by the extremely dodgy breeder, as he was leaving he saw bambi (we named them) and felt he didn't want to leave him there. We had to take both to the vet as they were so small, Ill and undernourished (also not pedigree which was obvious) the vet feared the worst but they pulled through x

Oh no Paula, I'm so sad and sorry to read this, it's awful, isn't it. :( :(

It took me weeks, if not months to even start to "get over" my Mum's cat being run over when he was just a year old - he was the first cat we'd had in our home, as Dad didn't like them (he thought), and I got him for Mum when I moved out. He was the loveliest thing - he was going to be huge, had enormous ears and paws, and greeted me like a long-lost mum whenever I came home for the weekend. I was heartbroken when he got run over and I've never had my own cat since, because I've always lived too near main roads/railways etc. Still do. :(

Many many hugs for you. RIP Bambi ThanksStar

paulapompom · 22/08/2015 14:43

Cold - I'm on my own. I have only moved back here (my old home town) in April and am a bit isolated, although the neighbours are just lovely. I will be ok, go to the shops, get a few bits, then vodka oblivion. Won't tell dd (I have twin dds) as it will upset them so much. They will be here Monday for my birthday x

I'm sorry too Paula Thanks

Have a good cry and open the vodka. X

paulapompom · 22/08/2015 14:52

Thumb - thank you, it is awful. Of course I'm feeling guilty now for bringing him here. But it woul be hard to get a quieter road for cats or more cat-friendly neighbours. I am going to get the lady who found him some flowers or something. Poor woman was only walking her dog when she found him and went door to door til. She found me. I couldn't even walk properly as I've just had an operation do she drove me. Very kind

I am so sorry, I'm sure you gave him a very good life. Vodka sounds like a plan right now.

Kreeshsheesh · 22/08/2015 15:38

I'm sorry to hear this. Bambi was lucky to have someone like you. I lost one of my cats a month ago in tragic circumstances. My heart goes out to you. Flowers

Allstoppedup · 22/08/2015 15:41

Oh Paula I'm so sorry for you. It's such a horrible thing to happen.

When one of my boys was run over I was absolutely distraught for such a long time. They really do take such a bit part of your heart and it's totally normal to feel the grief that you do.

The lady who found him sounds like a very lovely person, I will always be grateful to the person who took my boy to the vet even though it was already too late as at least we were able to find out what happened.

Vodka sounds like a very good plan. Be kind to yourself and have a good old cry. Flowers

R.I.P Bambi.
