Kitten gone missing

He is 5 and a half months old and booked at the vets for neutering tomorrow.

At his age, could he have gone on his first night time wander for a mate?

I am so worried. He is such a cuddly boy who likes being indoors.

They can have those hormones stirring at younger than five and a half month's old. Could he have got out? And is he chipped/vaccinated?

Sparklingbrook · 16/03/2015 22:02

Do you know he is definitely outside? Is he supposed to be not eating anything from midnight for the op?

cozietoesie · 16/03/2015 22:09

(I have no idea why I put 'month's' there.)

Good points, Sparkling . Have you done a really fine search, OP? They can get themselves into the smallest spaces.

MadeinSouthWest · 16/03/2015 22:17

He is vaccinated, chipped and wearing a collar.

Is definitely outside. Have checked garage, inside our cars, the streets.

He was supposed to be without food from 10pm.

Sad How did he get out? Good he's chipped though and has a collar.

Hopefully he will be back when he's hungry, but because of the no food thing the OP tomorrow could be in doubt.

I guess he is out looking for lady cats now.

pilates · 16/03/2015 22:33

Can you go outside and shake the dry food?

I hope he comes back soon Sad

MadeinSouthWest · 17/03/2015 00:33

Thank you for the responses. I appreciate it. He was last seen 6 hours ago now. The longest he has ever been out of sight before has been about 20 minutes. I fear I am clutching at straws hoping he has gone looking for a female.

I am now in bed and have left the window open for him to get in.

He just returned!!!
He seems fine but wanting lots of love!
I suspect he was stuck in a garage but will never know. I will just have to put this down as one of those moments that all cat owners have to go through every so often.

So relieved!

Glad he is back. He is gorgeous! Squidgy tummy!

Sparklingbrook · 17/03/2015 06:40

What a relief!! He is gorgeous. You must let the vet know though in case he has eaten. Phew!!

Felyne · 17/03/2015 06:42

What a beautiful cat, you must be so relieved he's home. I'd mention to the vets that he's been out and you can't be sure whether he ate anything during that time, see what they say.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/03/2015 06:46

Phew!, little beggar.

What will you do re the vet?.

MadeinSouthWest · 17/03/2015 06:47

The vet is quite a drive away so I have already phoned and cancelled. The vet is at the animal charity we got him from so I have to use this vet.

I will call back later today to reschedule when the admin person I there.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 17/03/2015 06:49

That's good. Did you get much sleep?

MadeinSouthWest · 17/03/2015 07:35

Nope. Coffee will be my friend today.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/03/2015 09:04

He's so gorgeous though, it's hard to be cross when their gorgeous and REALLY love you.

I tell mine "you're a little shit, but mummy loves you very much you know".

cozietoesie · 17/03/2015 09:41

He is just gorgeous ! Although it's hard not to believe that there's a certain triumphant quality to his gaze, there. Grin

Hope you get a rescheduled op easily enough. These things happen.

MadeinSouthWest · 17/03/2015 10:00

Rescheduled for Thursday! So his balls live to see another two days.

He has been showered with lots of love and kisses so hardly learning any lessons over this incident.

And thank you. He is very gorgeous and the softest cat I have ever had.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 17/03/2015 10:10

Good stuff. Smile

Shall you be keeping him in for the next couple of days?

chockbic · 17/03/2015 12:59

Thank goodness you've got him back.

How did he get out? The furry blighter.

MadeinSouthWest · 17/03/2015 13:26

He got out because he was allowed out. I wasn't concerned because he doesn't really leave the garden. We noticed him missing when we wanted to make sure he was secure inside about 7/8pm before it gets dark where I am. He was to be without food from 10pm so I thought there was plenty of time.

He will now be having supervised visits to the garden only and tomorrow I will keep him in all day.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 17/03/2015 13:46

If I were you, I'd be keeping him in solid, Made. It's only two days.

(It sounds as if the hormones are stirring - Heck, there may even already be some ginger kits coming down on the neighbourhood in a few months time!)

pilates · 17/03/2015 15:56

Glad he's home Smile

catsrus · 17/03/2015 15:59

hmmm - you didn't talk about 'it' while he was around did you? no wonder he went missing Grin clever boy!
