An hour to go before I find the fate of my beautiful grey girl.. My loyal friend who has been with me for 20 years.

She has been bringing up most of her food and phlemy water. Although typically she has just had tuna today and has not been sick at all!! Never know what to do for the best! She is currently on my daughters lap

Thinking of you OP. If she has to go then its her time and she knows you love her and she has had 20 years of warmth and love which is the best life she could have had.

And remember - it might feel cold to you but to her it will just be 'the vet'. And besides, her loving person will be there for her to focus on. You have to stay strong for her.

My big teddy bear of a tabby has a brain tumour and recently took a turn for the worse so I think we have the same decision to make after Christmas :( he's only 7

We are home Smile
The vet thought she was very bright for such an old girl. The vet took blood to check for renal failure and will let me know in a few days what she thinks we should do.
She has kept down tuna today but the vet said that's not good for renal failure but if that's what she wants then okay.
Just baking her some chicken Smile so so glad she is home.

Good for her.

Twoago had renal failure and my aim was to get calories into him. Tuna isn't great, sure, but if that's what she wants.....

Chicken, especially fresh roasted, also proved acceptable though - see if you can get her some fat-skimmed pan juices. That often seems to perk a jaded appetite.

Thanks for your tips cozie.
Last night she had chicken beast chopped finely as her teeth are bad and cat milk. She has slept soundly all night. Normally she is waking me up 2-3 times a night for food..
Maybe the plain chicken is better for her.

I recall that a few years back, when he was 16 or so, Seniorboy was sicking up a lot and the vet put it down to his mouth - which was truly horrible at the time mainly through lack of attention when he was younger. He had a big dental to overhaul his mouth because the vet had fair confidence that she and her team could get him through a GA with good results and he was fine thereafter. (Although largely toothless - most of what were left had to be removed so he only has 5 teeth now.)

That was then, however, and she's said that she wouldn't risk a GA on him nowadays at his current age - which is close to your girl's. Any mild gingivitis that he develops is usually addressed by ABs when he gets them. (He probably tends to have ABs more often than a younger cat to cover his residual cat flu symptoms.)

I'm glad that she had a good night anyway. When are the results of the blood tests due in?

They said on Friday that a GA to sort the teeth would be a no no.. feel guilty that i didnt have them looked at a few years okay and I hope they have not caused her much pain.
Vet phoned last night and the blood results had not come back, so it will be Monday now. I am so frightened and so sad about the worst possible outcome. I trust the vet and I know she will give me the best possible advice.
She has not been sick since Thursday now and is enjoying her food.

Well that last is good news. Had the vet given her any meds on her attendance?

Shall she get a prime piece of the Xmas meal?

No meds yet, think the blood test is to see how bad kidney function is and if early stages then meds but if more severe then prob pts. But like I say she has been in really good health this weekend and having lovely food.. I am living on beans on toast but hey ho!!!!!!

Wow- blood tests were all good now just for a urine test. Even the vet was surprised at her results considering her age!
Now to decide if it is worth risking a general for some dental work. Obviously it's a risk but would get her out of chronic pain.
I wonder if that's why she is sick as if her mouth is painful she bolts the food down quickly.
