An hour to go before I find the fate of my beautiful grey girl.. My loyal friend who has been with me for 20 years.

Does your vet still advise against a GA? It is risky at her age.

PS - good news about the blood results though.

Thanks cozie
She didn't really say one way or the other. She said I need to consider the risks due to her age. And weigh up the pros and cons like if she had them out she may die during the op but if she didn't she would then live free from pain.
It's hard to know the extent of the pain she doesn't paw at her mouth but on the other hand she doesn't chew her food she wolfs it down quickly so maybe she is in pain..
I have read a few horror stories online about cats suffering broken jaws during the op and others not recovering well from dental work.

It's a tough call. Seniorboy was just fine after his op (although he was given a long time to recover in the vet's 'back of house' and the actual op involved an entire extra person on the team just to make sure he was hydrated properly. (The additional fluids were probably the most expensive thing on the bill.))

I don't know what to comment. Do you trust your vet ? (If it's her who would be doing the surgery.) Your girl's bloods are certainly good news.

PS - I think that Seniorboy's vomiting wasn't to do with him eating food too quickly but I can't remember what the reason might have been. Maybe one of the vets who post would know what the answer might be.

I think I've changed my mind. If I could afford it - and it wouldn't be cheap - I think I'd have her teeth done if the vet was prepared to give it a try. The thought of having an old friend around but in pain and not feeling well (even if only for a relatively short time) would be too much for me. (I have had indifferent teeth and it's awful.)
