I know it's that time of year when she may well be stuck in a shed or perhaps she's just decided to do the off for a few days but I am very sad Sad

she hasn't been seen by us or the neighbours since Wednesday so posters printed and planning on knocking on all neighbours tomorrow.

DC are sad too and I can't bear the thought of her not coming home Sad She is our first family pet and she's been with us, happily I thought, since November.

I miss her so much

Thanks Ellen.

FushandChups · 23/06/2014 21:07

Sadly it was my cat - they had trouble tracing the chip because she was chipped in Turkey and even though I had registered her, they couldn't get my details.

I guess I should be grateful that at least I know but I am so very sad Sad I also have no idea how to break this to my DD, who at 5 was fiercely in love with her!

I'm so sorry.

cozietoesie · 23/06/2014 21:10

That was a kind person to take her to the vet's, even in the circumstances.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/06/2014 21:11

Oh lord that's the news no one wants to hear, I'm so sorry it was her.

Did you bring her home?

Sparklingbrook · 23/06/2014 21:11

So sorry to hear that Fush Flowers

timtam23 · 23/06/2014 21:20

So very sorry to hear that this has had a sad ending Fush

However I suppose at least you know what happened and are not left wondering for ever. It was good of the person to take her to the vet & contact you.

In case this is helpful for your DD there are some Blue Cross leaflets about pet bereavement here including one for children, they also have a phone support helpline

There are some kind cat loving people around. Thank goodness.

FushandChups · 23/06/2014 21:44

Thank you - and yes,is definitely better to know but doesn't make it any easier.. House just feels a bit emptier because for all her faults, she was my little friend Sad

Need to decide what to do which can wait until tomorrow - for tonight, raising a glass to my Tiga.. crazy little thing who I will miss more than I ever thought possible

So sorry Fush. Thinking of your little cat.

springbabydays · 23/06/2014 21:53

So sorry Fush these are the hardest times.

Glad you found her though and I hope dd copes ok with it. I was 8 when I lost my first cat (also to a car accident) and I cried, but I was ok in the end.

Scarletohello · 23/06/2014 21:57

So sorry there wasn't a happy ending, I was rooting for you. At least she had a happy life with you and was lived. It's probably too soon but there's gonna be another little rescue kitty out there just waiting for you.

HenI5 · 23/06/2014 22:02

Fush I was hoping you'd have better news.

I'm sorry it was so sad and you must take time to mourn the loss Thanks

LocalEditorEssex · 24/06/2014 06:15

I am sorry Thanks

GertieFinkle · 24/06/2014 06:27

Fush - so sorry to hear about your little cat. We lost our cat on the road a few months ago and we were all desperately upset. It is probably a good thing you didn't find her, just instead try to enjoy the lovely memories of her being with you. I still feel sad when I think of our boy but now dc and I can laugh about how silly he was. We have kittens now and when they do something silly we reckon our old boy must be teaching them - Goodbye Mog might be a book for your dd.

ProfYaffle · 24/06/2014 06:56

So sorry to hear this. Telling the dc would be my worst nightmare too. Our last cat died of a stroke, my 6yo dd was with me when we found her and had to rush her to the vet and have her pts. dd was upset but got over it fairly quickly.

RubbishMantra · 24/06/2014 07:32

I'm so sorry, how awful for you and DCs.

That truly is one of my worst nightmares.

Thanks
Petal02 · 25/06/2014 17:00

Aw, I'm so so sorry to read this, but am relieved that at least you know what happened, I can't think of anything worse than never knowing.

We lost two young male cats in the space of six months, both to road accidents (and we live in a very quiet area, which makes it even more hard to accept). It's a horrible thing to go through.

I bet your little cat had a lovely life with you, you sound very kind.

Another furry person would benefit from an owner like you .....

CatKisser · 25/06/2014 17:05

Very sorry to read this. Hope this doesn't sound tactless, but it's a small mercy that you know. If you never hear anything you forever wonder if they just left. Hope you and your family are ok tonight x

FavaBeanPyramidScheme · 25/06/2014 17:11
Thanks
FushandChups · 25/06/2014 21:29

Have collected my little one from the vet and a friend has kindly offered me a spot to bury her (was Shock at the cost of cremation and Blush I couldn't afford it for her). We only have concrete out the back and this is sort of where she started her UK life.

She just wasn't here long enough Sad Love you lady

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 25/06/2014 21:32

I'd rather bury them really. I'm so sorry this happened.

CatKisser · 25/06/2014 21:35

You're right about cremation. I'm glad someone's offered you a burial spot. I buried mine recently and I can't tell you how comforting it is knowing that she's in some way still close to me.

It seems so terribly unfair that they're only on this planet for such a small period of time, but my way of thinking is that they're the lucky ones. The time they spend here is so, so happy because they're loved and free.

It might be too soon to think about it, but when my little Millie died on the road, I found a cat on Gumtree who needed rehoming and it was the best decision. Whatever you decide, you gave your kitty a wonderful life.

Petal02 · 25/06/2014 22:03

We had both our cats cremated by the vet, but planted something nice in the garden in their memory. Nothing will ever replace your little friend, but a new puss may help you move forward and take your mind off things?
