Long backstory and many posts on here but situation with neighbours has finally come to a head.

They had been feeding him (they had Dreamies there with them despite owning. I catsHmm) then told me they stopped that but my ginger tom Benjamin was still spending 15 hours a day with them.

She told me the other day that she only ever lets him in when he "asks" and always leaves the door open, but he never comes when he's called unless I text her and ask her to let him out so the door can't be open as if he could hear his biscuits he'd come.

was hanging washing out in spare room and saw him on their shed. I opened window and called him and he stretched and started towards me. Got down into their garden and she comes outside, picks him up, takes him inside and shuts door.

I text her and she said she would let him out but that he didn't like to leave her house... Then text to say he was outside but wailing to go in and if I called him he should come (he didn't). Still no sign!

So now am in process of drafting text saying have been patient but he's not her cat and stop letting him in! Is this wording ok? AIBU asking for her to stop letting him in?

"Hi, sorry to hassle you but would you mind not letting benny in anymore? I know you like his company and it will be hard for him but we hardly see him at the moment and are trying to get him to learn this is his home as he is often a bit distressed/anxious. Know it will be hard but think it's best for him x"

They told me when I first met them that their landlord won't let them own a cat Hmm

You haven't done anything wrong & there's no two ways about it, it will be better for him because of his weight issues.

Not really, no.

Bengals don't have the monopoly on being loud, persistent and assertive though.

Yours is certainly a strong personality regardless of heritage. He's a big old ginger Tom with cattitude.

He's glorious isn't he - but that's quite a misleading picture really. You can see that he's fit as a butcher's dog but his juxtaposition with the water tank means that he looks like a normal pusscat. What size is he, Fluffy?

About 14lbs.

The ones at the breed shows are a lot smaller. I think that's how they want them now, I thought they were all kittens.

Cosie you were right. Still no response. If I keep him in he whines and gets sad. If I let him out (even after weeks of being in) he goes straight there Hmm

That thread is nuts! There are lots of parallels:

  • when I was over there in the autumn they had a Tesco delivery containing Dreamies
  • Benjamin has a special sofa that is "his" and a swing seat in garden Hmm
  • he naps in their bed
  • they lie to me about letting him in/feeding him
  • I have to text them to get them to let him out

Indeed. People can be quite strange about visiting animals.

I wouldn't concern yourself overmuch about the Tesco delivery because sometimes, people are casting around for valid items to make up their minimum order. (There are a few questions deserving of answers there on other issues but probably more appropriate to the Credit Crunch board.)

You need to get them sorted out though. I hesitate to echo 'Catgate' but what are they like as people/neighbours in other respects?

I don't know them really. They are not neighbours per se; our street runs perpendicular to theirs so if you go out our back garden the side of their house is there.

That said, their house is the inverse of ours, especially creepy being shown round a house opposite to my own with "and this is Pudding's bed..." Etc Hmm and then the Dreamies arrives... it was an industrial sized tub

She is about 35 and doesn't work because she is obese. She had a heart attack last year. She ate 5 mini rolls while I was there for 45 minutes. I hate to draw the parallels and be judgey but I don't know if she understands B can't eat like that and get fat and be ok Hmm
