Cat coughing but not bringing anything up?

He's up to date with his jabs. I'm ringing the vet anyway because he's also limping on his back leg (probably a fight wound).

Yes, he's not sitting all hunched up either. Dh is sleeping in the spare room again so I can look after him.

I've wondered how they give inhalers to cats with lung problems, I'd imagine the cats reaction to be becotide etc is similar to ours.

Well that's hopeful - although in the way of things, he'll likely get worse on Saturday lunchtime, just as the vet practice closes for the weekends and OOH is your only option.

Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear he's not well Fluffy. Hopefully he will keep the antibiotics down overnight.

boofted · 14/03/2014 22:53

I hope he's much better and brighter in the morning.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/03/2014 08:03

Well he is, he's going nuts downstairs to go out. Dh took him in the garden but he started eating grass which makes me wonder if he still feels sick?.

After 4 days of silence he is delightfully vocal again.

Ah that's good news - I was concerned about him.

Yes - he may want to upchuck or he may just feel that his innards need some grass attention if they're blocked up for instance. Just keep an eye on him and roll up any valuable/hard to clean rugs. (They always seem to make a bee-line for those to vomit on.)

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/03/2014 08:30

So was I. I cried Thursday night thinking he was going....

Dh has weakened & let him out.

I had similar with my cat before Christmas, coughing, retching and generally under the weather, he went in and had an exploratory op which revealed a mass on his tonsils, sample sent off to lab which indicated Lymphoma, he also had pus on his tonsils so was given ab's.

We thought he would have to be pts as we couldnt afford chemo (nor would we put him through it) but he has perked up no end! had another op last week and the tumor hasnt grown so they removed it and he seems back to normal! the vet says he could live til a ripe old age now :)

cozietoesie · 15/03/2014 08:32

Yes, I'd let him. As he's used to it. Unless he gets into trouble, going out will be good for him psychologically, feeling the wind on his face and all.

cozietoesie · 15/03/2014 08:35

PS - are you and DH home for the weekend now to keep a weather eye on him?

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/03/2014 08:51

BelleateSebastian That's amazing, you must have been so upset when you heard the word cancer. I hope he has a long happy life now the tumours gone.

We are home to keep an eye on him yes.

How is ASBO cat this morning?

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/03/2014 12:15

He seems a lot better but he's not eating as much as usual. That could be the warm weather though.

Smile

I'm hoping its over now.

(I keep hearing about this 'warm weather')

If he's been having gut or stomach problems, it could take his system a few days to get back to normal. I'm glad he seems in better form to you.

boofted · 16/03/2014 22:15

Glad he's a lot better now. Hope he continues to improve.

BelleateSebastian that is such great news about your cat!

cozietoesie · 18/03/2014 21:50

How is he doing?

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/03/2014 22:16

Quieter than usual and not eating as much. Runs about like his tail is on fire.

Seems happy enough Confused

Hmm. It's real worrying when an animal you know well starts behaving differently, even if only slightly.

Just a thought - is there maybe a new cat on the block who is getting him all edgy?
