What's the most expensive thing your cat has damaged?

Mines damaged a walnut bed side cabinet. £300 8 years ago so not cheap, lovely big scratch you get a finger nail into.

He got stuck between it and the bed, upside down, and freaked out even more when dh rescued him.

We love him really Grin

LateCat ruined a leather sofa, and new stair carpet.

Still loved the furry little bugger to bits though.

Spirael · 09/11/2013 22:25

DD! She's pretty expensive (priceless to me Wink) and DCat gave her a nasty bite to the finger, by accident, when she was feeding him. Wound got infected and needed a trip to the minor injuries clinic.

Glad to report that DD is now fine, not even a scar to show for it, and DCat has learnt to eat things more carefully! They also still adore one another, child and cat. :)

lol brawtoken so your cats innocently look at you and say THE DOG DID IT

I stand corrected. I recall that I went down to deepest England to meet and collect Darling Oneago. Came back and had a stop-off at my Dad's house (now my house) and the old man had set me up with a new down duvet - the non washable kind.

A friend had given me some wood pellet litter to try. Oneago stirred it with a desultory paw and then came to bed and peed copiously all over the non-washable duvet. I knew my place and was at the local supermarket to get some clay clumping as they opened.

It was my fault though so I'm not sure it counts.

Ha @ fluffyoud our golden retriever puppy gnawed our original Victorian skirting boards.

Cats/kittens have plucked sofa and carpets and chewed through computer wires but the worst was when MIL bought us a rug from the Muji sale for our first house, it was £100 reduced from silly money, went to pub, came home and kitten was lying in the middle of it having literally pulled out every loop. It was totally fucked and we had to throw it away 2 days after we got it.

A huge terracotta (I think!) planter I'd bought as a wedding present but hadn't yet delivered to the happy couple Shock Years ago. I still have a vivid mind's eye picture of my daft fluffy old lady clinging to it as it toppled and springing away as it hit the floor; amazingly the planter righted itself and I thought "phew!" but then it toppled again and smashed into several pieces.

Most annoying feline destruction ever was the theft of the lasagne ragu I'd spent hours making one evening for a dinner party the next night. Very tired, I went to bed but let the ragu at the back of the stove to cool down in its heavy pot. The little monsters had been sniffing around all evening so I thought I was being very clever parcel-taping the lid on to the pot. Was woken by a huge crash in the middle of the night, first thought was "burglars"....... then I twigged. Downstairs I found the pot on the floor, lid blown off, contents splattered everywhere. Bad Old Boy was sitting next to the pot, pointedly ignoring the ragu, tail twitching. Old Lady had legged it outside and was staring in through the window, eyes like saucers, fur all on end.

Well I said it was the most annoying feline destruction but it made me laugh so much - and goodness I wish they were still here to wreak havoc on my life Sad

Our tv has a character adding scratch down one side.

I got my wedding dress out of the storage box to show a friend. Cat decided it was a good climbing surface.

Most of this doesn't bother me. I got upset when I found a chunk missing from my m and s jumper however. And a poo on my favourite towel.

TheNunsOfGavarone · 10/11/2013 22:41

Actually yes, the dear old boy ruined a lot of duvet covers. Not his fault, but as he grew older his digestive system played up badly. There was no way I was going to stop him snuggling up on my bed so I just said goodbye to nice bedclothes.

Megbeth · 11/11/2013 13:27

When Sophie was a kitten I had left my cordless house phone on the kitchen bench. I had some pans soaking in the washing up. She jumped up, skidded along the kitchen bench & my phone fell in the water.
We managed to take it apart & dry it out. We rang it & it rang but the button to answer it wouldn't work.

Both cats have been sick & wet on my expensive comforter on my bed.

BadgersRetreat · 13/11/2013 20:57

I've got a very nice brand new rug....

...with four corners slightly balder than the bit in the middle Angry

Lonecatwithkitten · 13/11/2013 21:57

Yet another Radley handbag, oh yes and the Radley briefcase and no forgetting the leather diary cover too. And I nearly forgot the leather cover for the iPad.

Hmm now I write it down I feel there is a message I am not getting - do not buy leather items.

clarabella1976 · 13/11/2013 23:09

a 80 quid Bosch iron!....I made the mistake of going out & leaving the ironing board up & the iron still on it (unplugged!)....cue a few sherries later & me & best mate rolled back in, she complete with kebab. My male cat (always at the centre of any drama!) decided he liked the smell of the kebab & promptly decided to launch himself from the kitchen dining table onto ironing board to investigate! he landed on the ironing board quite heavily & managed to launch the iron in the air as he landed...needless to say the iron ended up in quite a few bits on the kitchen floor & the cat didn't get any kebab!

clarabella1976 · 13/11/2013 23:15

apologies if anybodys about confused....my friend had placed kebab in box on ironing board in a rush to get to the loo! :/ ....

HellonHeels · 13/11/2013 23:24

Beautiful cashmere blanket. They couldn't get enough of it and still love it, even though it's full of cat-made holes (they like to hide under it, look through the holes and leap out at each other).

They also like to sleep on a leather tote bag of mine (only slightly scratched) and will pull a down coat or a leather jacket off the banister and sleep on them. Cute!

PrincessKitKat · 13/11/2013 23:28

I also stood and watched the cat scale my beautiful wedding dress, leaving a huge run in the satin.

It was terrible.

livinginwonderland · 14/11/2013 06:58

Nothing major. Two phone charger cables and a cheap pair of headphones, but I think that's pretty much it.

MirandaWest · 14/11/2013 07:03

Mattress got ruined by cat weeing on it. Think we needed a new one around then anyway but hadnt exactly planned to replace it then.

dingit · 14/11/2013 07:08

Dh's car. She likes to sit on it. Jumped on it and missed, and there are scratches down the bonnet. I didn't own up, then he noticed. Fortunately she is still with us, the scratches are superficial enough to t cut out, unlike my disagreement with a metal gate post Smile

thecatneuterer · 16/11/2013 14:35

princesskitkat was that before or after the wedding?

MedusaIsHavingaBadHairday · 16/11/2013 21:15

Girl cat kindly hacked up a mahoosive hairball into my (open lid) macbook. Amazingly it still worked as there was little liquid with it, but it was grim.

My nice, quite expensive living room curtains are SHREDS and I am not replacing them til she shuffles off her furry coil as she hangs off them like Garfield. Could be a few years as she is only 13....!

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/11/2013 21:18

Is girl cat the coonie on your profile? No wonder the curtains are in ribbons I'm surprised the tracks still in the wall.

OP posts:
MedusaIsHavingaBadHairday · 17/11/2013 10:17

LOL no, that's boycat.. he is 22 pounds and far to lazy to climb a curtain..thank god! Girl cat is a tiny long hair tortie with attitude. This week she has taken to pooing in the shower tray because we have changed the cat litter for biodegradable stuff! (she does go out but likes her litter tray..usually) Annoying animal!

SnookyAnyFuckerPooky · 17/11/2013 10:28

Nothing too expensive, mainly every pair if voiles in the house.

iamusuallybeingunreasonable · 17/11/2013 10:34

2 leather sofas a day after delivery worth approx £3k ... Scratched the entire seating area little git ... Cat no here any more but sofas still are, I can recommend shoe polish buffed into the scratches if that helps anyone, won't be getting another cat

Cookiepants · 17/11/2013 10:45

Himself! No insurance due to prev condition. £3000 vet bill Confused
