Where do your cats sleep?

Mine has a basket but rarely goes in it. She either sleeps on DS bed or on outside furniture in the day.
If she hears the Hoover she buries herself under a pillow so her ears are covered.
At night she sometimes sleeps on the sofa but mostly next to DS.

Bay window or arm of the sofa. For some reason she won't come upstairs. Very odd as she used to spend all her time in the stairs window. And she's more than welcome to sleep in our room.

Odd, odd little thing she is.

Night-time: Cat 1 insists on sleeping at the foot of our bed. Over the years we've learned to ignore the yowling from outside the door when he's kicked out so we can engage in, ahem, marital activities! Cat 2 usually sleeps with one of our DCs, or sometimes on the living room couch.

Daytime: Cat 1 at the foot of our bed. What can I say, he's a creature of routine. Cat 2 anywhere and everywhere. Went through a phase of sleeping on top of the fridge, which baffled me.

Seniorboy sleeps in bed. Always has, like all my other Siamese boys. He would regard anything else as a punishment.

(If the weather is real hot he might go on top of the bed for an hour to cool down before diving back in for his snuggle love.)

GemmaTeller · 07/10/2013 09:06

Boy cat sleeps at foot of bed on my side and if its really cold he'll sometime snuggle under the duvet.

Fat old cat either sleeps cuddled up next to me or on a pillow behind mine. Again when its cold she will snuggle under the duvet.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/10/2013 10:02

Locked in a seperate room with a bed and a hot water bottle if its chilly.

He's always had a bed and used it. My parents bought a plastic pet bed for the first cats, it was big enough to take a Rottweiler. It was stored in the house for years before they admitted it was too big and that the cats hated each other so no curling up together was ever going to happen.

The Lion likes to sleep outdoors at night, usually on top of the woodpile. If its raining he lies on the doormat just in front of the catflap. During the day he's found on top of the sofa usually.

The Snowshoe curls up in his basket at night, goes out hunting around dawn though and is usually out in the field when we call him for breakfast. He sleeps in one of a couple of chairs during the day, or sometimes curls up in the long grass under the trees.

issey6cats · 07/10/2013 10:14

mine like to sleep on the sofa its leather so i have a big fleece
cover on the cushions and my office chair is another fave perch, dont have them in my bedroom, during the day i have a wide window sill in the kitchen and when its sunny is a another fave place to catch some rays

Reiltin · 07/10/2013 10:18

They used to sleep on the bed with us but we've had to shut them out since baby cameHmm but last night, my wife took baby for a drive to put her to sleep so kittens slept on me for a few hours. Bliss Grin

Wherever they fancy downstairs. Last night, FluffyCat slept on DD3's schoolbag Confused. Generally, they sleep on the sofas while ignoring the comfy bed prepared for them in the same room. They are not allowed upstairs to sleep at night, mainly because they are not peaceful bedtime companions.

The other night, while DH and I were still up, DD1 (9yo) appeared downstairs shooing both cats in front of her. Apparently, FluffyCat had come into her room and sat on her head and SmoothCat had followed him in and yowled at DD1 for no apparent reason. They are stupid, she would have happily had them both on her bed but the combination of head-sitting and yowling led to a cross sleepy child evicting them both!

mayihaveaboxofchoculaits · 07/10/2013 10:26

on top of the printer Confused

Moyerette · 07/10/2013 10:31

We bought both ours a basket each and radiator beds. Neither have been used. Instead they prefer the couch. They seem to know when we're heading off to bed too as they quickly follow suit and find a spot in the bedroom.

ClaraOswald · 07/10/2013 10:47

Wherever they damn well please, in my case. :)

Recently, Boycat has been sleeping in front of the freezer or with his head stuck in a trainer and girlcat mainly chooses the bannister or a carrier bag.

LaurieFairyCake · 07/10/2013 10:49

All 3 on our bed

One of them on my pillow

Dh and I contort ourselves round them Hmm

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 07/10/2013 10:50

Our 2 have the choice of a radiator bed, a small round padded chair with a fleece blanket on top, or the (very precarious) perch on top of their tree.

All downstairs with the door shut!

umiaisha · 07/10/2013 12:48

We have only had our kitten for 3 weeks, but she sleeps either on the sofa or at the top of the stairs at night. In the day she curls up on DS whilst he has his nap - she avoids him like the plague the rest of the day!

ZebraOwl · 07/10/2013 15:58

During the day: on my bed; on top of my wardrobe; on their beds on the landing; on the sofas or the chair in the sitting room; on top of the box of Guide stuff in the dining room; by the French windows; on the bathroom chair; on top of the chest of drawers on the landing...

At night they divide their time between my brother's bed; their beds; & the sitting room. They would love to be allowed to sleep in my bedroom though!

Putitonthelist · 07/10/2013 18:54

At night either on the wicker chair in DDs bedroom or on the end of my bed on her brown blanket [smie]

In the day - Sometimes on the wicker chair, cardboard shoe box on conservatory window sill or cat box in kitchen.

jimblejambles · 07/10/2013 19:02

During the day outside under the table or in the chimnea. At night in the cardboard recycling box in the kitchen.
Unless of course she is muddy then she will carefully seek out clean washing as her bed

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/10/2013 19:04

Nothing like a bed sheet to dry paws.

ZebraOwl · 07/10/2013 21:34

My two have decided they are Indoor Cats so they don't get muddy. They adore cavorting in the bath when it's damp after one of the humans having bathed/showered & then coming to wipe their soggy paws on my bed. And indeed me. Horrible creatures.

timtam23 · 07/10/2013 22:12

Daytime - Old boy cat on my bed, kitten downstairs on my armchair

Evening - both of them on the sofa

Night - Old boy on the bed again (on DH's side), kitten tearing around the house for most of the night then asleep on the bed on my feet

None of my cats have ever used a "proper" cat bed

Until my old girl cat died a few weeks ago we had all 3 of them on our bed at night, now that was difficult especially when the 2 children wanted to come in as well Confused

FTRsMammy · 07/10/2013 22:20

After one night of being allowed in the bedroom where boycat and girlcat had loud yowly convo at 3am they mostly slept on the sofa, specifically in the warm spot myself or DH just vacated.
Now that they've been joined by the furry terrorist they all sleep in a big dog bed with a fleecy blanket in in the kitchen

Lonecatwithkitten · 07/10/2013 22:31

Daytime - posh arrogant boy on very expensive armchair covering it daily with thick BSH fur. Tail less wonder on the dog's bed, dog has to sleep on floor.
Evening - tail less wonder in a basket beneath the TV on top of keys and coins etc. Posh arrogant boy on back of sofa.
Night- on my bed nowhere else will do.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/10/2013 22:43

Poor dog. They know their place.

Catmint · 07/10/2013 22:44

This thread reminds me of the Eleanor Farjeon poem,

Cats sleep anywhere, any table any chair.
Top of piano, window ledge, in the middle, on the edge.
Open drawer, empty shoe, anybody's lap will do.
Fitted in a cardboard box, in the cupboard with your frocks.
Anywhere! They don't care, cats sleep anywhere.

My kitten sleeps on the sofa ( burrows down behind one of the bback cushions) Angry, on the dining room table and in my bed. Sometimes she just flakes out in random places.
