The vet finally rang at 11.33, 7 minutes before I had to be out the door.
It's good news, despite the waffle, gloom, doom, lack of prognosis and suggested treatment from vet #2 yesterday FiveMoggy is getting better!
The vet that finally rang back was brilliant, full of information and advice. FiveMoggy is much more alert, eating, drinking, purring and peeing and we can take her home tonight. She will need meds from now on and if she will eat a special tinned food for liver impaired cats that's great, but if she wont the important thing is that she keeps eating (I see prawns in her future).
We could do more tests to discover exactly what is going on but super vet #3 thinks this is pointless as at FiveMoggy's age we should be thinking about quality of life rather than testing for things that would require treatment or operations that would probably kill her anyway. The down side is that is that she can't give any clue as to life expectancy, but who cares, this cat is going to get spoiled!
I have expressed my anger about the wait (politely and not personally against super vet #3), she apologised instead of making excuses and therefore gets extra super points for that.
I will still, once we have got FiveMoggy home, write a letter of complaint to the practice manager. The fact they had an emergency is a valid excuse for them not to ring, but it's still their problem and not mine. Something someone said to me on a training course stuck, it might not be their fault, but it is their responsibility and as I was sitting here expecting the call to end in me arranging a time to have FiveMoggy put to sleep it led to a pretty lousy morning.
Any way, bloody good news and here is some
and
to thank you all for sticking with me and giving me somewhere to vent.
If anyone is interested there is a picture of FiveMoggy on my profile impersonating a piece of fruit.
