Seniorboy has just done projectile vomiting.....

Everything covered - my handbag (on the floor) the antique war rug in the upper hall - everything. It's all cleared up and cleaned/disinfected now but I'm remembering that projectile vomiting was the first sign that Twoago's kidneys were on the out - and Seniorboy is 18 and on NSAIDs.

Careful watching from now on I guess.

I've never had a cat that age so I can't comment in that respect. But you obviously have realistic knowledge of what age does to cats. I can't even imagine how you're feeling though. People often have no clue what our animals mean to us.
Are you taking him to the vets? And is seniorboy the Siamese?

Yes - he's Siamese. He doesn't like the vets so I'll see how it goes over the next couple of weeks - maybe phone them and discuss. He's not going to last forever of course.

Maybe so, Fluffy, maybe so, He's calm and asleep on the bed but his breathing was a bit stertorous.

I'll watch Battleship. He likes that movie - well the sounds, anyway.

Sore stomach lining from the NSAID's? when my stomach ulcer flares up I vomit violently, it's not like normal vomiting.

I don't know. We'll have to see - he's enjoying having the movie on, though. Mom used to watch telly ad nauseam so it make him feel secure.

God we love that movie.

My cat only seems to like eating dried food, but my friend tonight has said that we should try to get him to eat wet food as well, as only eating dried food can lead to kidney problems..

Does anyone know whether this is true? We do always ensure he has fresh water to drink next to his food.

Goodness - not at all. I always prefer to give my boys wet food with maybe a side dish of dry in case they get extra hungry. And Seniorboy is 18 after all - so I don't know the technicals (maybe one of the vets on the board could advise) but he's done well so far.

'The honour is mine' - Seniorboy is loving that movie. (He's lying on the bed watching it.)

How is he today?

He's very subdued - and also did a large poo in the downstairs hall during the night. (Looks from the paw marks as if he tried to use both his trays but ended up not managing it.) I'm going to see how he gets on over today.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear this, cozie. Are you going to ring the vets to discuss it today? I hope Seniorboy has a better day. Poor thing (and you too).

Aw... poor thing :( Hope he's just, say, eaten something dodgy.

I'm hoping that maybe he was bunged up with constipation and the food had no other way to exit his innards. We'll see - I'll probably phone the vet on Monday unless he deteriorates. Fingers crossed.

Poor seniorboy. I'm glad you are treating him to his finer things in life. He sounds like he has acquired tastes.

Cozie as I remember senior boy is an oriental they are much more prone to dehydration and constipation than regular cats. So encouraging his fluid intake would be a good thing tuna in spring water is excellent for this.
I would get him checked this week and probably have some bloods done just to check how things are. We can slow kidney problems down if we catch them early enough,

Thanks for that, Lone. unfortunately, he despises tuna in spring water but I think I have a couple of small cans doing nothing in one of the cupboards so may put one out just in case.

I think he'll likely be off to the vet during the week - unless I see a clear improvement. (Hopefully the weather will break which will help.) She won't be that pleased. He had bloods done a month or so back and that's such a palaver with him that her vet nurses go gray whenever she mentions it to the surgery at large. Practice morale nosedives, I think.

Off to get tuna.

How has he been today?

The heat's doing for him a bit. (Mind you, it's doing for me also - we had 5/6 hours of torrential rain in the morning but it doesn't seem to have helped the stickiness.)

Two large pees since yesterday but still no poos. He's flaked out on the bed right now.

In your experience is that anything to worry about?

Difficult to say. This weather isn't normal (even I'm sitting here with only undies on (sorry for TMI)) and he has to wear a fur coat as well. The vet's only a hop and a skip down the road and she'd see him at short notice if needed. (I think she regards him as a rather beautiful challenge now.)

I'd be happier if did a poo though.
