Birman cat

Disclaimer that it is not mine Grin
She follows me everywhere, I mean to the shop (then sits outside and waits for me), to the car (then tries to get in the car)
Comes in the window and follows me round the house yowling. Won't let any other cat near me and hissed/spat at a neighbours cat yesterday that came over for a stroke
Is this normal for a Birman?! I mean, I just don't get why she yowls at me all the time. I don't speak cat and I'm sure she's thinking "stupid human" Confused

Squeeeeeee! She's lovely! And you are SO not stealing her. You are being forcibly adopted!

ProtegeMoi · 06/06/2013 00:00

That pic is so funny!

Poor dogs don't even have a cat bed to swap unless they want to climb the scratching post to get to it.

HansieMom · 06/06/2013 04:03

Kitty is saying, adopt me! I am scared out here by myself!

Truly she does not seem like a cat meant to be outside on her own.

She is a most beautiful cat!

sashh · 06/06/2013 07:02

I can't see any of the pics - do I need a photobucket account?

EMUZ

could you put some pics on your profile?

And have you checked for a microchip

cozietoesie · 06/06/2013 09:25

Sorry EMUZ. I neglected to say that brushing her makes her your cat now.

Smile
cozietoesie · 06/06/2013 09:27

No you don't sashh. You've just had a glitch.

EMUZ · 06/06/2013 16:02

Latest pic. Hopefully nobody minds me adding to thread but I love taking photos and she's a very helpful subject Grin

Well what can I say? That's clearly your cat.

EMUZ · 06/06/2013 17:00

Clearly Grin
She dug her paw in every time I tried to move. I have reached my position as staff

ProtegeMoi · 07/06/2013 00:40

Yep you've officially been adopted.
They say cats choose their owners.

I don't suppose you'll know her name, you'll have to give her one ;)

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/06/2013 07:14

Did you get her checked for a microchip?

EMUZ · 11/06/2013 20:27

No, she has an owner but just appears to prefer me for company Confused

She's such a honey.

EMUZ · 11/06/2013 20:46

She's adorable. That was a proper angry pawing before I started filming than I got sad cat
Not in my good books since she appeared at the window and threw up on the carpet Shock

The ultimate compliment, EMUZ!

Such a difficult situation for you, though.

EMUZ · 11/06/2013 20:50

Is that a compliment?

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 11/06/2013 20:54

Oh aye - just wait until the winter snow starts!

EMUZ · 11/06/2013 20:56

Oh don't Sad I'm such a soft person with any animal. She wasn't here over winter I don't think

I was going to say the same as ProtegeMoi! She is gorgeous, but all Birman breeders make a huge thing (and some even make you sign a contract!) of not letting them outside as they have no sense of danger! It's a case of Cat sees someone on other side of the road... "Ooh a person! ... Friend!" Proceeds to run across the road without paying any attention to whats on it ... Definitely not good! I would have a word with your neighbor, if she's following you around and talking to you that much she's obviously craving attention that she isn't getting at home - Maybe the neighbors have recently got another pet, or had a new baby into the house and so she's feeling left out, so seeking love from elsewhere? Typically Birman's will stay faithful to one owner(s) thinking of them as their own family as long as they obviously reciprocate the love and affection in return... I am on my third Birman now, and as much as cats are all different, in that sense, Birman's are all the same! :)

EMUZ · 11/06/2013 22:30

She does just want the attention I think. But if they are not at home through the day and she's outside with no cat flap.. I guess she wants some strokes and comfort!
Same at night, I work odd hours so sometimes she's there at one am waiting for me

cozietoesie · 11/06/2013 22:40

EMUZ

I've never had a Siamese who was left at home outside during the day or left outside at night at all. I'm afraid that misseskimo has a point - particularly with that girl who looks to be as daft as a brush with roads.

EMUZ · 11/06/2013 22:41

Oh I know she shouldn't be out. But I see it as they don't keep her in, and I'd rather her sit with me than run round the road. After all, they put her outside Sad

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 11/06/2013 22:55

That's true - but also true that maybe you should try to set up a conversation with the neighbours about her. Seriously, once the snow comes are you going to be able to put her back out into the cold/ not give her some food and so on ?

misseskimo · 12/06/2013 19:53

I suppose your right in that she is safer with you than on the roads, but it's very odd that they let her out all day with no cat flap! scary scary, I'd never let my girlies outside to roam around, I think I'd be too scared to go to work for fear of what might happen! :/ Birman's tend to not like water also, so poor little bugger in this weather will look like a drowned rat :(

EMUZ · 14/06/2013 05:23

thank you cosie for the brush suggestion. I loved it so much I cried at 5am outside the staff window until she woke up. I then demanded a brush and tried to eat it. The staff put me back outside again and I face planted the window trying to get back in. She was very mean and said something about stupid cats and sleep time. I just wanted the brush, it felt nice on my tummy Grin
