Gosh, I think making you make a decision by Weds is a bit harsh. If he has a brain injury, it would likely take longer than 7 days to improve (if it is going to).

I would still err on the side of caution on this one. If Mr Miaow is happy in himself (eating/ toileting/ purring) then I wouldn't- he may need a little extra attention for a bit, but as long as he's not in pain why not let him carry on?

It's a really hard position to be in and a difficult decision to make. I had our old family cat PTS a few years ago and I'm still gutted when I think about it. Different situation though, he was old and really quite unwell- many, many things wrong with him.

I'm so sorry your family is going through this Flowers

Zeph give your little cat lots of love and give yourself time. You don't need to decide by Wednesday. If the vet thought your cat was suffering he would have suggested PTS.

Cats do get over strokes I will keep everything crossed for you

Hi Zeph,

I've been following your story on the other thread and am pleased you have him at home.

I think the main thing, as other have already said, is quality of life. My last cat was very ill for the last year of her life, lost a lot of weight and barely ate, but she was happy, enjoyed the little she did eat and was still going outside and enjoying the sunshine. Give it a few days and see how Mr Miaow gets on. It may be that he never gets his old life back, but if he's happy and pain-free there's no reason to have him PTS. Maybe he'll have to be an indoor cat from now on, but if this doesn't distress him there's nothing wrong with this.

Hope he continues to improve over the weekend. Lots of attention and treats are the order of the day!

Vet called again, I misunderstood they want him in wednesday for a check up not a decision - yay. Our vet was lovely they really liked him and said what a nice cat he is and how they all wanted him. Grin

He is sleeping now the girls are going to get him up for a bit later and he has had a wash (From himself) so here's to looking on the bright side.

That sounds reassuring Zepherial. You now have the weekend to observe him and see if he is improving. Having a wash is a good sign.

I suppose if we had been hit by a car 2 days ago we would be taking a while to feel like ourselves again. Sad

Chicken livers went down well with the Persians. They went mad for them. Current cat looks at me like I'm offering him hemlock if I try him on them.

At least you've got the weekend to keep an eye on him.

Raw livers, Fluffy ? (Always on the lookout for something for Seniorboy.)

Cooked in the oven on a low heat. They went mental for them but its a once a week treat due to the richness of them.

We bought them in the freezer aisle. It's worth a try isn't it? Nice and soft on the mouth too.

I'll have a look for them on the next shop. (But will also google for some chicken liver recipes just in case!)

How's the wounded soldier doing Zepherial ? has he slept at all yet?

Don't want to think too positive but he is asleep on the sofa after having a wobble round the lounge. He even jumped on the sofa and made it!

Maybe liver for a weekend treat.

Sleep is really good so I'm pleased for him. I think you'll likely see improvements each time he wakes up. (Just my thought but let's see.)

Well done the Zepherial household.

We are all really pleased, front leg still bad but I can live with a 3 legged cat if he is getting better.

Fluffy he is stuffing his face and eating lots of treats. Still very wobbly but unless I am imagining it he seem a tent bit better.
