This morning she was coughing and has also had a sloppy bowel accident outside. She wasn't interested in breakfast even though I didn't come down until after 9 and she wasn't about when DH left at 7. He normally feeds her before he goes. I had to put the plate under her nose to get her to come and ear.

Her back legs are a bit wobbly and I will take her for a jab on Monday to hopefully get some relief. She didn't wee over night so that is postiive but when I was comforting her when she was coughing it really hit me that she is very old and isn't my baby anymore Sad.

She has lasted for DD's birthday but I am not sure she will make her own Sad.

I have just put a towel on the sofa for her to sit on, just in case, but she wasn't impressed and has jumped down on to the floor.

My cat is getting to the end of her life and I am not sure I will ever get over it Blush.

She means the world to me, is the only thing in the world that is 100% mine, and I will miss her so much.

Yes I agree about repeat offending - it's like they can sense that's where to go again.

Don't know if those pet odour spray thingys are any good? They are supposed to stop them using that place again.

JustFabulous · 16/12/2012 18:05

We tried a urine eliminator one but it smelt awful, didn't work and set my astham off.

I am reading my cat magazine and learning all about the weird and wonderful things that cats do and what they mean.

Poor FABCat she just tried to jump onto the sofa and scared herself when she fell, clinging on with one claw Sad. I picked her up and gave her a cuddle and she is sleeping on the sofa now so I think she must be okay.

That used to happen with my cat JustFab her claws had to be trimmed by the vet as they didn't wear down once she started to stay in. I was too squeamish to clip them myself Smile plus she could still do damage even in her old age Grin

JustFabulous · 17/12/2012 18:08

I had 2 bleeding hands yesterday that confirmed her claws can still do damage.

Has anyone got any advice as DH and I are seriously fed up.

FABCat has weed behind the sofa every day for the last few days and weed in her room overnight last night, though that had stopped for a while. She always has access to outside and now will do it even when someone is in the room. I was cleaning ds2's room and he just ran to get me so of course, too late to grab and move her. She is now sulking in her bed and DH is wet shampooing the carpet again.

No infection. Always just there so consciously goes rather than an urgent need to wee right now. I am already in a frazzle and now more weeing to deal with.

Sad.

JustFab sorry to hear this, it could just be dementia I suppose Sad

My cat lived in the kitchen, so it was easier to clean up the flooring, but even that got me down after 3years.

I have to admit, it's lovely not to have to wash the kitchen floor 3 or 4 times a day, although I'd have her back in a heartbeat Sad

I don't really know what to suggest, except maybe to limit her access to all of the house?

JustFabulous · 23/12/2012 16:47

She even weed on her new bed the other day.

We put her in her room for a while and she went to bed and slept facing inwards so was really cross. Is now asleep in the lounge. She is going to get so cross if we shut her in the kitchen every time we leave the lounge Sad.

We spend a lot of time in our kitchen, so ours wasn't alone except for overnight. It is such a shame when they get to this stage. Sad

I used to clean the floor with white vinegar and hot water, was buying loads at the shop each week, bet they wondered what I was doing with it!! It's supposed to neutralise the smell.

JustFabulous · 23/12/2012 18:56

Whatever DH is using isn't making her not use the same spot over and over. He just said he thinks she has weed in the utility room as well.

I know we laughed about it backaways in the thread Just - and I know it's undignified for poor FABCat - but has the time maybe come to try the nappies?

JustFabulous · 24/12/2012 09:37

Sad. Poor thing. She would hate his messing around with her like that but maybe it is time.

DH is still in agreement we will not have her PTS just because of this.

Well Done Fabcat!

Horsemadcat is distinctly underwhelmed with her new scratching post. Xmas Hmm

She does like her toy mouse however...

JustFabulous · 25/12/2012 08:51

Ungrateful buggers aren't they?!

We haven't gone FABCat's presents yet as she showed no interest when shown and went to sleep Xmas Hmm.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 25/12/2012 09:25

....and went to sleep...

You're lucky. Seniorboy hasn't even got out of his bed . Given all the people who'll be round at lunchtime, I don't expect to see him until turkey aroma makes its way upstairs.

JustFabulous · 26/12/2012 14:28

FABCat gave us all a fright this morning. She was coughing like she had something stuck. It went on a while but I stroked her until she was calm and tucked a towel under her incase she was sick. She has had a plate of roast chicken and been fine since. She is napping now while I watch The trouble with dogs.

Horsemad · 26/12/2012 16:55

She's keeping you on your toes JustFab Smile

JustFabulous · 26/12/2012 17:40

Talking of toes a few minutes ago she jumped on to the sofa and took her time, while he claw was dug in my toe. Ouch.

Oh this cat knows how to tug at the heart strings. She was stood with her front paws on the chair for quite a while, like she didn't know how too, or just couldn't physically, jump up on to the chair. Of course I lifted her up and she is settled now. DH says she is getting old. I'm in denial. Scared. The vet said it would probably be the cancer that takes her but what if I miss the signs? Sorry to keep going on. You must all be sick of me by now. She is such a trouper and appears to be going for the live for ever cat title.

OP posts:
Horsemad · 29/12/2012 19:10

That's sweet JustFab Smile They have these little tricks to make us smile. Keep us posted, I for one really like hearing how she's doing.

Know what you mean too about the live for ever cat title. You go through so many setbacks when they are elderly, but they just work their way through them.
