Our amazing cat has been knocked over and killed

Trying to pull myself together to get ds ready for bed but can't stop crying. We've only had him 4 months but he was such a laid back affectionate cat and perfect for our family. Ds is 5 and has autism, he calls the cat his "mate". No idea how I'm going to tell him.

Poor you. Sending a hug

storytopper · 29/07/2012 19:40

So sorry to read this. I have enjoyed having cats for over 40 years and appreciate the joy they bring to a household. Each one becomes a member of the family and to lose one, especially at such a young age, is a tragedy.

Hugs to you and your DS.

It will be the last thing on your mind at the moment, but I hope eventually you will consider giving a home to another cat - there is another one out there somewhere just waiting for you.

I'm so sorry :(

randomimposter · 29/07/2012 19:57

I'm so sorry :(

Losing a cat in this way is just horrible. I'm not ashamed to say when our 18 month old ginger tom was killed by a car I cried so much I remember my eyes just stung. Both my parents are dead, and I have had 5 miscarriages, but I don't remember crying in quite the same way as when Stan died. :(

Purpleknickers · 29/07/2012 19:57

So so sorry and much love to you and your family I lost my precious boy in may in the same way and the sorrow seems unbearable thinking of you x

stookiesackhouse · 29/07/2012 20:03

I am so sorry :'( It is always painful losing a lovely mog.

I lost my girl last month after she had a massive stroke - I had only had her ten months. I cried solidly for a day :(

A couple of weeks later I went to local cats protection and now have a crazy fifteen week old girl lighting up my home.

Hope you feel able to take on another soon for you and DS.

Hug x

BabeRuthless · 29/07/2012 20:10

I was the one who really pushed to get a cat. Ds totally fell in love with him & I feel awful. Thanks again for all your kind words, I'll check in again in the morning.
