I would love to hear about your favourite long walks. I love the south downs way, especially round afriston and the last bit up to beachy head

Now then.... Why is that under World Cup 2010?

Northey · 23/02/2012 17:51

It's a sit in on a damp wall with a picnic , rat.

RatDesPaquerettes · 23/02/2012 17:54

I like the South coast of Pembrokeshire. I also liked the coast when you are walking South from Aberaeron.

Sneezeblossom · 23/02/2012 17:54

It's occupy Mumsnet: Outdoors Bivvy.

I love the south coast of Pembrokeshire too! Though you do get a stuff neck from constantly looking out to sea.

And the middle section of the coast to coast, where the best remains of Hadrian's Wall are.

Sneezeblossom · 23/02/2012 18:12

I like Dorset by lulworth and durdle door too

Ooh, that's on my list of places I want to go, sneezeblossom. What's it like?

RatDesPaquerettes · 23/02/2012 18:23

Actually, has anyone got any recommendations around Lincolnshire?

Sneezeblossom · 23/02/2012 18:25

Dorset is beautiful. If you go in the summer the sea swimming is fab too.

I love the walk from Whitby to Sandsend. Depending when the tides are you can walk there on the beach and walk back along the cliffs.

Also Goathland to Grosmont mostly next to the north York moors railway. Great walk that one.

bagelmonkey · 23/02/2012 18:28

The East Devon Coast Path.

bagelmonkey · 23/02/2012 18:28

And Beer to Branscombe

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 23/02/2012 19:05

Sea-most of the Devon/Cornwall coastal lath, especially the Roseland peninsula and Lizard peninsula. The Dorset coast.

Borrowdale up to Great Gable.

New Forest in the autumn

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 23/02/2012 19:19

I loved the Gower Coast. Apart from the weather on the first day (we did the path from Llanmadoc to Langland Bay over two days).

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 23/02/2012 19:20

Seashelss, I think we'll do Borrowdale to GreatGable atEaster. We did the Newlands Round last Easter and the Easter before that the ridge from Helm Crag. Fab.

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 23/02/2012 19:23

Borrowdale is my favourite dale, as I think it has the most native forest of all the dales. Beautiful views, and love,y drive along derwent water to get there :)

SheepAreSuper · 23/02/2012 21:46

I love the lake district. Really REALLY love it. Sooooo hard to pick a favourite walk but I do love me a bit of scrambly ridge so Helvellyn via the edges on a sunny day with no-one else about. Bliss.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 23/02/2012 21:50

I want to do Helvellyn again sheep. The weather was awful at the top when we climbed it and we pretty much turned round and came down. Because I haven't seen the views from the top I feel like I haven't really done it.

SheepAreSuper · 23/02/2012 21:53

Scafell Pike is always like that for me.
Helvellyn was the first time I went but have had some amazing days up there since.

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 24/02/2012 09:05

Great gable was done in thick mist. There is a running theme here Hmm Grin

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 24/02/2012 09:12

Helvellyn was fine until the couple of hundred feet. At the top the visibility was about 10 ft. Couldn't even take the traditional - 'we made it' shot. I got sunburnt on Helm Crag/Easedale the day before.

CelticPromise · 24/02/2012 09:33

I love the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion coasts. Also the Brecon Beacons horseshoe and the Sugar Loaf near Abergavenny.

Sneezeblossom · 24/02/2012 09:42

We couldn't do snowdon when we went because of the mist.

OP posts:
Hassled · 24/02/2012 09:47

I'd love to do Peddars Way in Norfolk.

Kayzr · 24/02/2012 09:49

I did some of that with school Hassled along a Roman road. It was really good, I'd love to go back and do more.

I really really want to go and do some of the Lake District ones. I went to do Helvellyn but the weather was awful.
