How is everyone doing?

Pod is extremely hot but whining at me because he doesn't like the fan. Sitting next to his cooling mat, natch 🙄

Mine is mainly being lazy and sleeping all day. But he does that when it’s mild so hard to tell the difference really. He does like his cooling mat though but sometimes thinks he’s helping by breathing hot breath on my face

All lying in the room asleep with the portable air conditioner on. No walks this week for them, there’s not one time after 5am it’s safe to take bracyphelic dogs out as not under 25 degrees.

They’re all going to be batshit and stir crazy by next week

Walked early at 6.30 we had thunder which for some reason really scared the border and she doesn’t usually mind
terriers are lying on the cooling mats ordered a portable air con meant to come yesterday now saying possibly Thursday so using the fans to help a little

I have one brachycephalic and one hairy dog so we were out before 5 this morning.
They have the run of the house and gardens; tiled/wood floors downstairs and fans at floor level with cool mats.
The silly buggers still lay on the patio in preference to deep shade in half of the garden.

My boy 10 this year, he’s also really struggling with it 😞

Also, he won’t poo in the garden, so evening walks are a nitemare rn (we do a long early morning walk, but then I need go bed early, like 830!!) so we’ve been doing a quick poo walk at 8pm, but even then it’s still so bloody hot 😞😞😞

Aww. That is one utterly gorgeous dog.

I keep panicking about her but she’ll alternating between and garden and sleeping next to her cool mat.

Early morning and late evening walks in the coolest parts of the day. We've done a quick toileting walk in the middle of the day but it's in the shade on grass, and there's a river to have a dip in. Otherwise, DDog just lies in the hall in the coolest part of the house and snoozes - wish I could do the same!

Mine is on her cool mat in front of a fan and is not too bothered. She had an emergency buzz-cut in the garden on Sunday and looks as if I did it with a combine harvester, but she's much cooler and happier than she would have been!

Mine is flaked out on the north facing kitchen floor tiles, which makes it a tad inconvenient for the humans wanting to get to the sink, but his water bowl is already full, so of no real concern.

He is sooooo gorgeous. Can we have more pictures please?????

Enjoyed his early morning walks but not very interested in his food. He is a fussy little git anyway though (7 month old poodle)

All good here they’ve been very slow and lazy. Gave them a hosepipe shower in the garden earlier and they are definitely more comfy.

Mine is wanting to play fetch in the garden!

My staff is feeling hot, hot, hot! Panting like a steam train.

She does a dramatic flump in front of the fan and then wants ear tickles. Then more flumping!

I'm spraying her with water and just leaving her to it. Blinds are all down, windows closed, no walks. I'm not going to fuss her, she can find her place and what she wants to be comfortable.

I have two Labs. Yesterday we didn’t walk them at all except a little pootle round the block about 9pm which was still too hot for one of them, she got straight into her paddling pool when we got home and wallowed around!
Today we were up at 5.30 and at the beach by 6am where there was a lovely breeze (I was borderline chilly!) and they had a lovely swim and wander for an hour or so. They have seemed much more settled and cooler today as a result of an early swim so we will repeat tomorrow and Thursday!

Ours are absolutely fine, and they’re both black coated. They had their usual hour’s walk at 7am and they’ve spent much of the day wrestling on the lawn.

They usually have their second walk at 4ish, but we’ll be doing it at about 8 tonight.

Hotter today. Early walk in the shadiest places, current mood...

7 month old Lab is bored out of her skull despite a long walk on the beach at 6am. She's wandering around finding things to chew - so far have removed two newly planted gazanias, an empty box of matches, a tea towel, a newspaper and a paper cup from her jaws. She's had frozen cucumber, carrots and a Kong and has various chewy toys but none of these apparently take the place of being to run around in the garden.

OP- what breed is Pod? I love those ears 😆

We have a poodle X who happened to be due a haircut today and we keep her fairly short in summer. Luckily, she is small enough to stand in the utility sink for regular soaks, enjoys licking at ice cubes in her water bowl and has a gel cool mat.

He’s not very intelligent unfortunately so has to be crated for his own safety in this heat otherwise he’ll try to carry on with his usual mental antics.
Luckily, he’s a working type so switches off and snoozes in his crate, but you can tell there’s an element of fomo.

My idiot fluffy black spaniel decided she was better off outside (30°) than in (24°) because she is stupid. She doesn’t cope well with heat so I ended up carrying her back in.

I took the dogs to the river at 5:30AM, they dried remarkably quickly when we got back home.
Blanket refusal of cool mats (I buy a new one every year because everyone is raving about them, they’re simply not interested). Same with frozen/ melting normal towels. Not going in the paddling pool either (it’s for them, not interested). I do put the hose on throughout the day and they actually like that. They don’t understand fans either. Otherwise they sleep all day in some weird places. I will take them to the river in half an hour for a quick dip and that’s that.
I’m intending to be at the river by 5AM tomorrow then not taking them out until the following morning.
One thing about this insane early mornings is that I managed to do my ironing and clean two bathrooms and hoover downstairs by 9AM before starting work. I work from home luckily. I am not ashamed to confess I had a wonderful afternoon sleep around 2PM.
OP, your dog is gorgeous, like a doe!

Have just taken my dog out in the woods behind our house for a leg stretch followed by a lovely paddle in the stream in our garden. Planning to go again very early in the morning. Our house is very old with huge thick walls and is still pleasantly cool. Dog sleeps happily downstairs all day in the coolest spot.

Oh my GOODNESS, op! I remember your thread from just before you got Pod and how wonderfully excited you were - it was lovely to read and see early Pod photos.

But look at him now - just look at him! The size of those EARS! The length of those LEGS!
