Hope your older dog is feeling better & can come home soon @NorwichMom

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 04/01/2026 08:37

@NorwichMom how is your older dog feeling today?

NorwichMom · 04/01/2026 09:12

I’ve rung and spoken to the nurse and they said she’s much brighter and sat up watching what’s going on. Waiting now for the vet to ring me. I’m hoping he says she can come home. Hoping it was just a one off thing and she’s back to normal.

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 04/01/2026 09:15

@NorwichMom brilliant news! Fingers crossed she's home with you soon. I hope you managed to get some sleep - stress about an older dog, and the general annoyingness that is young puppies, is a horrible combination ❤

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 04/01/2026 09:22

Hope you can have her home today for lots of TLC @NorwichMom

SpanielsGalore · 04/01/2026 09:59

@NorwichMom That sounds like a positive update. Hopefully she'll be able to come home soon. (And your insurance will pay up.)
My foster dog was really poorly a while ago. She had sickness and diarrhea for a few days, which turned into explosive bloody diarrhea. I honestly thought she was dieing. I left her at the vets to go on a drip for a few hours and she was a completely different dog when I collected her. Bounced out as happy as Larry. Hopefully your girl will be the same. 🤞

NorwichMom · 04/01/2026 13:18

Thanks everyone, she’s back home. Seems very tired which I assume is normal. Made some chicken and rice for her for lunch but she’s not interested. Keeping puppy out the way and have ordered an Adaptil plug in in case it was stress related.

Bless her, what a relief she’s home 😅

How is she this morning?

Slightly runny poo but nothing like the liquid blood on Saturday. Enjoying having chicken and rice for breakfast

I'm pleased that she's improving @NorwichMom .
I hope pup is continuing to do well also.

Soooo, I discovered today that leeches can go up noses.
We're not in UK, we live in Thailand.
And we took our pup with us when we went away over New Year. A few days ago, we did a small trek to a waterfall. Really lovely and pup had a fab time on the trail and at the waterfall.
Yesterday he sneezed and a LEECH flew out of his nose on to the kitchen floor!!!!!!
And now I know it's a thing. Thankfully pup seems fine and no bleeding so the leech must have eaten its fill and detatched alone.

That’s such a shame, mine will be 11 and a half weeks and it’s a worry. Just taken him out in a sling and he cried the whole time. Not sure if he’s scared, excited or cold. I’m also not sure what the benefit is if he doesn’t really get to do anything/sniff/meet other dogs, etc. I guess he sees some people walking about.

his puppy harness is too small for him so I need to get something bigger and then I could take him out for longer in the dog buggy I have.

I took my little guy out in a puppy stroller when he was little. My older dog is agaraphobic so it was super important that he get exposed to outside and city sounds.

Maybe get some high value treats and reward him when he is quiet and calm?

At least it’s out now!

Thanks, his harness is here now so I will try the stroller and take treats, good idea. We haven’t been out since last week. Had such an awful weekend with o,der dog being so ill and then the snow! We might all try and venture out tomorrow.

Hey guys! Just caught up on everyone's posts. Relief that your doggy is on the mend @NorwichMom. I've learnt that having a dog is stressful!
We've had an eventful first week. Maple is now 9 weeks old. When Maple wants to play bite when we are doing something should we ignore? Ie. Trying to listen to my dc read and she was nibbling her clothes.

SpanielsGalore · 08/01/2026 09:48

@sunshineandkindle I'd give her a toy to redirect the nibbling. Play biting can get bloody (literally) painful, so perhaps not wise to let her think nibbling on DC is acceptable.

@poodlepupmum That's gross. 🤢 Was pup not bothered by it being up there? Mine got a blade of grass stuck up her nose and was sneezing and coughing for days.

Not in the slightest - never noticed anything different about him.

Howerver, I foudn out that leeches in noses is not just a dog thing but also a human thing. Obviously we weren't sniffing the vegetation 😀but we were swimming in the waterfall and humans can also get leeches up their noses as a result. I don't think I can ever swim at a waterfall again now and I can't stop blowing my own nose in case there's a leech up there 😁

poodlepupmum · 08/01/2026 10:23

@sunshineandkindle we're constantly shoving toys in our puppy's mouth when he goes into bitey mode, usually early evening. Just have a good supply ready!

SpanielsGalore · 08/01/2026 10:53

@poodlepupmum Just when you thought the day couldn't get any grosser. 🤮 You need some of those nose clips the synchronised swimmers wear.

Twiglets1 · 08/01/2026 11:26

@sunshineandkindle ignore the biting or redirect with a toy.

Don't do what I did one day and lose my shit after the puppy bit me for the 100th time and shout at him.

Shouting made him more excited so he did zoomies all round the house. Upon his return I extended the hand of friendship but he bit it.

zobalina77 · 08/01/2026 13:27

@NorwichMom glad your dog is feeling a bit better.

Marley has lost a tooth this morning. Hoping this is the beginning of the end of the biting. To be honest it is a lot better, he doesn't leave bruises or marks anymore (my arms were a mess!) but still frustrating. He only seems to bite me, which is nice. I'm taking it as a sign he likes me best 😂
