Help! We will be taking home a labradoodle pup next month and we cannot decide on a name. We are in agreement that we don't want it to be a really common name, but between the four of us we cannot make a decision - someone always objects. Examples of names preferred by some in the family are Clover, Coco, Dilly, Newt, Ducky, Tuna (!) and Pearl.

I have read loads of old threads and lists of dog names, but need more inspiration. Any suggestions very welcome!

we've got a terrier called Wanda, she does like to wander off on her own and in her own time so it suits, her, Nickname is obviously Fish.

Lots of comments on how people love her name.

I know a couple of people who have named their dogs after colours. I quite like that. One had a lurched called Red. I know someone else who had a dog called Blue.

Not sure if that’s what you’re after though!

So many amazing suggestions, thank you! I've suggested a few to the family but still no agreement. Argh!

All of the above suggestions are great.
I wish we had called our dog Tonks or
Kimchi but not sure they would suit your little cutie

When we got our lab puppy some of the names that didn’t get used (and based on dcs interests) were:
Cassiopeia
frieda
khalo
jupiter
artemis
nyx (goddess of night and chaos- actually would still fit her well!)
megara

We've finally agreed on a name! It's been a long slog but we've decided on Ivy.

It's not as adventurous as some of the other names we considered (and have been suggested here), but I think it's lovely and suits her.

Thank you again for all the inspiration!

Ivy is a beautiful name for a beautiful pup!
I had a friend who called their dog numpty. Thankfully that dog had a wonderful sense of humour 😂
