Fair weather park users

Can all get to fuck.

Fifteen minutes it took me for a parking space to come available - not helped by some fair weather park user queue jumping - and I was pushed for time, so the dog had a 15 minute shorter walk.

There ought to be some sort of loyalty scheme for those of us who actually bother to use the park between October and February.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

You're arguing it like there is actually a logical argument for having a loyalty scheme for winter park dog walkers. But there isn't. If all those people didn't use the park in summer someone would surely find a reason to build a block of flats or something on it instead wouldn't they.

I don't really think dogs should be only be allowed in parks between May and October like I said upthread - at least a little tiny part of me does think that but not the reasonable part - I'd never try to make a convincing argument for it! It's all a joke about how everyone else in the whole world is annoying isn't it? I know some people have gone all up in arms about it but surely you were just being silly/lighthearted?

bluecomputerscreen · 10/05/2024 15:38

oh do f off

everyone has the right to visit a park.
the weather forcast is not really a secret and you can plan accordingly.

you can always walk your pet around the block were you live.

sunglassesonthetable · 10/05/2024 15:39

It's like people thinking they own or have extra rights to

bits of pavement outside their houses
the coast
seats in pubs
the countryside
and now it turns out
parks and
public car parking.

Sorry you just don't. Count yourself lucky to have it when it's not busy.

fieldsofbutterflies · 10/05/2024 15:42

@CountingDownTheLongDays - I mean, I experience both those things all the time. I used to have to drive into the Lakes everyday for work in the summer and the roads were hell.

Of course it was annoying but it's always going to be the case people will visit a tourist hotspot in the holidays, just like they're going to want to enjoy the park when the weather is good.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 10/05/2024 15:44

Foul weather wanker 😂Great new phrase, thanks. I grew up in a chilly climate and that definitely describes the people wearing shorts in December!

I was feeling partially light hearted about it - I still want to actually be able to park - until I saw some of the responses on this thread from people who think my family shouldn't even be using the park at all, which hasn't exactly endeared me to the fair weather park users.

oh chill out. You're making something out of nothing now.

CorylusAgain · 10/05/2024 16:48

You just can't help yourself can you OP?
You genuinely think you are a better human being for going to the park in the rain 🤣
You compare yourself to a regular church goer to illustrate your virtue 🤣
Your "partially lighthearted " thread has kept me laughing

Portakalkedi · 10/05/2024 17:01

Firstly why not walk your dog by walking out from your home? Can't believe people are going on about global warming, cost of living etc etc and then chauffering an animal around so it can go for a walk.
Secondly, it would be nice for humans if dogs were not allowed to shit all over parks - who wants to go and sit on the grass or let their kids run around when it's basically a huge dog toilet? Should not be allowed, or only in restricted areas. There are very few places where we can escape the fecking things these days.

Christ there's some miserable fuckers on this thread.

Regular users of all sorts of facilities get narked by the influx of people at certain times of year.

Regular gym goers get narked at the January influx. Regular churchgoers get narked at people whose only attendance is turning up drunk at midnight mass.

And no, parking elsewhere wasn't an option - mainly because of residents parking zones making it illegal, but for other reasons too.

As for the people on this thread who clearly don't like dogs - why are you posting in The Doghouse?

@CountingDownTheLongDays you are the one who is coming across as miserable tbh.

My dog gets driven to our local field or to a NT place as he’s elderly and cannot walk on concrete / pavements for too long as it makes his arthritis bad .

Spacecowboys · 10/05/2024 22:19

🤣. I mean I kind of expect it of parents with children etc. It’s the fair weather dog walkers that I find particularly annoying. Seems their dogs only need exercise when the weather is nice.
