A question about Dogs who sleep in your bed!

Anomi · 26/04/2024 19:46

I’m not a particularly doggy person. We had one when I was a child but he slept downstairs. At work today there was much discussion about where dogs sleep. Several people have the dogs in their own bed, one person even has two in there under the duvet. The question I didn’t dare ask to my colleagues is what on earth does the dog do if you want intimacy with your partner?! But I am quite interested to know so I thought I’d bring my question to an anonymous forum!

This is about 90 percent of why DDog sleeps in a crate tbh.

We don't take her crate on holiday and if we are DTD we just shut her out the room.

OhNoFloyd · 26/04/2024 19:52

Ours sleeps on the bedroom floor but we have to be extremely quiet or he'll jump on the bed to investigate what's happening... its... awkward... 😬

He's quite happy to sleep on the floor of the kids rooms so we'll leave him in there if we're planning ahead.

vodkaredbullgirl · 26/04/2024 19:53

Both sleep on top of my bed.

friggingnora · 26/04/2024 19:54

We have three little ones on the bed with us.
We shut them downstairs with a dog chew if we want alone time. Otherwise they'd try and watch.

princessrapunzel · 26/04/2024 20:06

My dog will jump off the bed in a huff and lay on the floor until its over!

ManchesterBeatrice · 26/04/2024 20:14

Out, and door shut.

Simonjt · 26/04/2024 20:14

We share our bed with a dog, cat and a toddler, an eight year old often appears in the night too. So generally we don’t have sex in bed, unless its during the day time when the kids are at nursery/school.

tabulahrasa · 26/04/2024 20:26

Mine don’t sleep in the bed, but they are usually in the room

kicked out and door shut because otherwise they seem to think it looks like an interesting activity, possibly a game or something and maybe they could be involved somehow 😐

I have had dogs that would just stay in their bed and just sleep

but the current 2 seem to think everything might involve them… so…

FrannieGallops · 26/04/2024 20:28

I have a sister whose dog sleeps on their bed. I have often pondered the same.

I couldn’t stand having our dog on the bed or even in the bedroom. They belong downstairs.

LaurieFairyCake · 26/04/2024 20:31

My last dog slept beside the bed and literally gave a massive sigh and farted if we started shagging 😂😂😂😂

I miss him

My current dogs get locked out the room or they'd stare at us

Eye contact mid orgasm is awkward as arse and pretty off putting

Thewolfsjustapuppy · 26/04/2024 20:32

They side eye, harrumph and slink under the bed.

This.

though sometimes she pops on the bed to check we are both iok…

RacingLine · 26/04/2024 20:36

Ours knows we are going to do it - not sure if he smells the hormones (he's a cocker) but he definitely knows and he sighs loudly as if to say fgs get it over and done with quickly please!

Ours can open doors. So even if he's not in the room, he will barge in, sit on the floor and watch in judgment BlushGrin

oakleaffy · 26/04/2024 20:38

Dogs definitely STARE.

How people don’t get put off beats me.

Our old Lurcher used to bound around couples having outdoor sex - she’d see them before I did and would gleefully leap about.

Sadly that field is built on now.

Motherpro · 26/04/2024 20:39

Our dog growing up used to sleep in my bed under the covers with me.

Me and DH only have cats now, but we've learnt to shut the door. Otherwise, they get on the bed, lay down, and don't leave. Makes it a bit awkward!

One of them wakes me up regularly in the night for cuddles, too, standing on my chest and meowing in my face. I don't mind this though, I love kitty cuddles.

fieldsofbutterflies · 27/04/2024 08:05

Mine sleeps under the duvet but we can just leave him downstairs if needed.

Anomi · 27/04/2024 08:11

Thanks everyone for clarifying! Some of these posts have made me laugh a lot!

Mine sleeps downstairs for this reason - he would absolutely think it was a fun game and try and join in 😂 the cats bad enough, she sits on the bedside table with a judgy face unless we shut her out

Idontknowwhattodo78 · 27/04/2024 08:19

Mid action this week, I opened my eyes…..and looked right into the eyes of my dog 🤣🤣 His face was literally an inch from mine!! We laughed, put him on the floor and carried on….

Aria20 · 27/04/2024 08:25

Haha our dog sleeps in our 12yo room thank god as we'd have no chance of sex if she was in our room.... if DH jokingly picks me up or bear hugs me she will rush over and try and get involved/bark I don't know if she's jealous or trying to protect me from his advances but she'd be going crazy if we were doing anything more!!

My neighbour said her dog sleeps in her bed, under the cover and has his own pillow next to her..... she's single!!

Lurchers are the best dogs ❤️

ChampagneGold · 27/04/2024 10:15

Our dogs have free rein to go wherever they like in the house during the day. Inevitably they are often found on our bed....

If we want some daytime fun (rare) then they're kicked out and stair gate closed, which they then rattle in protest!

At night they sleep in the kitchen

survivingunderarock · 27/04/2024 15:49

Ours sleeps in our room in a bed. She sleeps through everything. The cat on the other hand would probably want to join in! He sleeps elsewhere! 🤣

Gabiabbi · 27/04/2024 20:00

I'm sorry, you lived near a sex field? Are these a thing? I need to know more 😂
