I'm able to have a rest whilst Milo is also having a rest. I'm absolutely knackered lol

Yllasin · 08/03/2024 14:11

Hi Lougle and all. Thanks for being here! One of my rl friend is good to let off steam to, and she had struggles with her goldie pup who is now a year old, and still a struggle at times. (Recent possible phantom pregnancy or something causing regression to an earlier phase) Another friend just wants me to hurry up with everything, keeps saying "you've got to leave her sometime" as if that's not one of my aims, and her dog just "loved the crate" and said I'm making it harder for myself.
My pup is only 10 weeks, I can't imagine leaving her for a while yet. But I am flitting a bit, few minutes at a time.
Deep breath. Will have a good cry at some point.

PanadTe · 08/03/2024 14:19

I couldn’t imagine leaving our 10 week old either!… My husband doesn’t work at the moment due to injury so our 16 month old has never been left for more than an hour. It’s going the same way with little pup too, who’s also 10 weeks.

That has brought about other issues though as 16 month old has s really strong attachment to dh.

DH has gone out to a medical appointment so I have taken some time off work as he’ll be a few hours, and older pup has just sat on the window sill for most of it 🙄

PointerParty · 08/03/2024 16:30

thanks @Yllasin I appreciate the support here, yesterday was probably the darkest day I've had. Yes at 10 weeks it's really difficult to leave them for any length of time, they're babies and programmed to think something has gone seriously wrong if they find themselves alone!

Edit: Sorry name changed from BleakGarden, trying to be more upbeat!!

Floramac · 08/03/2024 17:43

@PanadTe I have the same with my husband having an injury. Our pup is 13 months and only been left 1 hour or so. She is getting used to me going out ( although still jumps me and full of excitement!). But when hubby went for medical appointment, she went ballistic when he came home! He has an op planned in a few weeks and I am starting to worry as we obviously cannot risk any kind of jumping at him. Working on putting her behind a stair gate and getting her calm but soo difficult to lower the excitement levels.

tizwozliz · 08/03/2024 18:40

We've had a few weird behaviours from pup lately, wondering if it might be slight phantom pregnancy symptoms, lots of digging in the bed/on the sofa, and then hiding under armchairs and the bed.

Otherwise she's still the easiest pup. I often have to remind myself that she's still less than a year old.

How old is she now @tizwozliz ? They're both beautiful.

@Lougle - 11 months now

Oh, and after thinking she only had 7 nipples for the past 9 months I discovered number 8 last week. They're in 5, 3 configuration thought rather than 4,4 😂

Lougle · 08/03/2024 19:30

Hooray for the missing nipple!

Hazel still seems so little at 7 months old.

Hello! I have an 18 week old cocker who is gorgeous but getting quite territorial in the garden. She’s also started to dig 😬. Does anyone have any tips? Photo for tax

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 09/03/2024 06:43

@PaddingtonsHat DON’T after posting I did a quick google it’s apparently poisonous!

PaddingtonsHat · 09/03/2024 06:46

@CurlsnSunshinetime4tea ok back to the drawing board

JamieJ93 · 09/03/2024 06:46

Good morning from Milo!
For some strange reason he had me up at 5.45 barking in his crate.
We are going to go out for a run today to see if we can run into his best friend Peggy who is a 10 month border terrier.

What a beauty,
He's huge! ❤️
How long have you had him for?

Wow, @Venusflytart , what a boy.

@JamieJ93 for a week now, he's just had his second vaccination and we're anxious for him to go for his first walk (one way form now). He was the biggest of the litter I think. 😀

PanadTe · 09/03/2024 10:14

He’s beautiful @Venusflytart

Ours was the biggest of the litter too. I think he’s greedy because of it too. There were 7 in his litter.

I’m struggling with his possessiveness over food. We’re getting grumbles from him if the older dog goes near him when he has a high value treat. But often he has already eaten his and then stolen the other dog’s

We separate them, but our older dog is such a picky eater that is not always possible with timings. Or we just get caught out.

So you think he will grow out of it as he realises that food is not a competition?

PointerParty · 09/03/2024 10:17

@Venusflytart he is a beauty! I bloody love whippets. If I ever get another dog I think I'd go for a whippet.

Has anyone found nice crate covers that don't cost the earth? We're putting pup's crate in the kitchen and it's XXL, I'd like a cover that's not solid black... I've seen nice ones on Lords & Labradors for about £300 🤯😂

Venusflytart · 09/03/2024 10:30

@PointerParty can you not use a fleece blanket or something to cover the crate? Or does it need to be blackout?

Venusflytart · 09/03/2024 10:32

@PaddingtonsHat what a beauty!

PointerParty · 09/03/2024 10:40

We have been doing blankets over the top but her favourite thing is jumping onto the top of the crate (getting less frequent with training but not completely eradicated) so I need something a bit more snug!
