Vegetarian dog food

Does anyone feed their dog a vegetarian (kibble not home made) diet and have a recommendation for a manufacturer? One that does samples would be great so I can check with my DDog before committing. One that fulfils all needs of vitamins, proteins etc and also supplies toppers if poss?

we’ve tried herbie and wilde and it went down well

Why would you want to do this unless your dog has some kind of allergy?

Dogs are carnivores. They should be eating meat.

I was even reading something about vegan diets for cats the other day. I wondered if anyone had asked the cat? Mine turn their noses up at different brands, never mind lack of meat altogether.

Animal Welfare Act 2006 "owners are legally responsible for making sure their pets eat a diet suitable for their species under the Animal Welfare Act 2006?".
Dogs are omnivores and need meat in their diet.

Dogs are omnivores and should have meat in their diet. Please do not get a dog (and definitely not a cat) if you do not want to feed meat. House rabbits are wonderful pets - I used to have tow amazing French Lops - and are genuinely dog like in their bond with people.

That does not sound healthy at all. I really don't think you can adequately replace a carnivore's natural diet with supplements and alternatives. Feels like it would be asking for malnutrition and illness. Look for dog food where there is attention to animal welfare or opt for a naturally vegetarian pet.

If you are worried about the welfare of the animals in the meat and impact on the planet, can I suggest insect based food? It's expensive but nutritionally complete.

Dogs are not vegetarian. If you have a dog it needs to have a carnivorous diet. If you want a vegetarian pet, get one with a naturally vegetarian diet. This is simple.
