And if you do, do you make up loving nonsense or choose a real song?

Yes it was to the theme of little boxes (from tv series weeds) and was nonsense but used to sing to him when he was sleepy. Sang it to him when he was being pts a few weeks ago 😢

So sorry 💔

CoughForWeeks · 12/06/2023 20:00

I sing the Rufus Wainwright song to her that is her name

WateryDoom · 12/06/2023 20:04

Of course! Doesn't everyone?

Various songs, with various changes for words to suit him. I also sing to myself in his voice. Songs like 'Mum, Mum - where's my dinner, I'm getting thinner...'

To no particular tune.

petermaddog · 12/06/2023 20:13

long ago a animal trainer told me to make a song for all /each animals /went in the hospital for a month the people taking
care of the babies knew the songs for each/ knew they were safe
going in again in thurs everyone knows thiers songs
it all makes stressless for them

ThatsACoolShirt · 12/06/2023 20:19

So many songs, I change words to include their names and doggy things like food, treats, brush, ball, toy. 😂

They both love howling along to Country Roads.

Taylor Swifts Out of the Woods is changed to Shall we go to the Woods when we are going for walkies as there’s woodland behind our house.

Ed Sheerans Perfect is for dancing round the kitchen holding them like a baby with various words changed. ‘I found a doggy, fluffier than anyone I know.....’

We are completely normal. 🤪

solvendie · 12/06/2023 20:24

@Sarahtm35 I also sing this to my dog. Im a terrible singer but he loves it 😝

SirenSays · 12/06/2023 19:05

No. With my voice I think I'd be reported for animal cruelty

Same! 😂

Sgtmajormummy · 12/06/2023 20:33

🎶I love you Ralphie
and if it’s quite alright
I need you Ralphie
To warm my lonely nights…🎶

Victoriangirl1900 · 12/06/2023 23:27

I sing to my dogs

Oh, you quality dog!
You great, big, quality dog!
Let me put my arms about you
I could never live without you
Oh, you quality dog!
You great, big, quality dog!
If you ever leave me how my heart would ache
I want to hug you but I fear you'd break
Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh
Oh, You Quality dog!

Spidey66 · 13/06/2023 10:26

The other songs I sing to her are
Maggie May
1980s song Mickey but Mickey changed to Maggie
Rupert the Bear changed to Maggie the Dog
Brown Eyed Girl
Let's Go Round Again, my version is Let's go Round the Park
(Showing my age here) the old Sham69 song Hurry up Harry. My version is Hurry up Maggie. The chorus of the original version is 'we're going down the pub'. My version is 'we're going down the park'. Unless of course we are going down the pub in which case she gets the original version.

BestIsWest · 13/06/2023 10:52

I sing
‘Feed the dogs,
Tuppence a bone…’
at dinner time.

and

‘He’s Mr Nosey Paws’ (He’s Mr Know it all) every time he follows me into the kitchen to see what I’m getting out of the fridge.

DustyLee123 · 13/06/2023 10:53

I hold mine like a baby and sing silly songs to her. I love it, but she looks at me like I’m a loony !

FastFood · 13/06/2023 12:13

Of course I sing to him.

"La Bohème" by Charles Aznavour is now "La Baballe" (endearing term for "ball").
"Hello, is it meat you're looking for" is a classic at home at meal time.

Neverinamonthofsundays · 13/06/2023 13:14

Of course. DP has a song to sing them when they are minding the house too that he made up and sings every time we leave them alone. Its stuck in my head so much now when the kids are going to be home alone I sing it to them too. Obvs I change the names.

WetBandits · 13/06/2023 13:21

Haha, always! Currently it’s his nickname and “little ginger dog” to the tune of Dragostea Din Tei by Ozone Grin

Puppybobbbinssss,
Little ginger dog,
Little ginger dog,
Little ginger baby dog!

Sorry not sorry for the ear worm 🪱

Fridayfreddie · 13/06/2023 13:22

As a I child composed a short simple song on the piano for my dog. I still play and sing it now, thinking of her 40 years later.

Sorry for your doggie loss. They do keep a bit of our hearts. ❤️

I sing happy bday to my dog, she loves it

Softoprider · 13/06/2023 14:37

@SirChenjins
Sometimes - but he’s obviously not keen on my singing as he gets up and walks away.

I do give him head, back and shoulder massages which he likes v much.

I think you are taking it a step too far there😀

rinseandrepeat1 · 13/06/2023 14:40

Anybody else sing the stinky baby song?

m.youtube.com/watch?v=IgC3PziteOE

😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

rinseandrepeat1 · 13/06/2023 14:42

I know the video is of a cat but I sing this to my dog all the time

Squirrel28 · 13/06/2023 19:13

Yes. I like to perform a selection of songs from musicals for him while I’m doing the cleaning. 😁

Sometimes I take pictures of his unimpressed little face and text them to people.

Hmmmbetterchangethis · 13/06/2023 19:17

Yes, the song ‘Mandy’, but with his name in and then laugh as he’s really very selfish and only interested in his own needs, so the words make me chuckle.

bellalou1234 · 13/06/2023 19:23

My dog runs for the hills if I sing
