What car for a big dog?

We need to replace our car but having a mare finding something that will fit our Giant Schnoodle in. He likes to sit up in car, he is very tall. We take him on lots of country walk so I prefer him in the boot due to the mud. We have an ancient Renault grand scenic at the mo which is the right size but they don't make them like ours anymore. So many cars have either small boots or very slopey backs. Husband would prefer something eco. What cars do you big dog owners have?

Large Golden retriever and a Honda jazz. If you don't mind looking like a grandma they're great!

Last car was a c Max, current one a golf plus... both fit a Rottie in no problem at all.

@Anonymum40 snap! Honda Jazz is a brilliant car, so much internal space. Third back seat goes down, still room for her to lie flat and accommodate 3 passengers.

Also brilliant for tip runs and IKEA trips.

I had two large labradors and found that SUV type cars were tall, but shallow so the dogs couldn't both lie down and they didn't like it at all. During the 11 years of their life I had a variety of Estate cars. My preference was for Audi so A4 Avant was pretty good, A6 Avant and Allroad cavernous. VW Passat was great size. I found the low and square boot on the Subaru Legacy was perfect too. DH loves a van and the Mercedes Viano worked well for us. Currently he is running around in a T4 VW bus that Giant Poodle seems quite happy with.
