Suggestions to keep the old hag warm overnight in the car

DH and I have a holiday planned in May, hoping to head to Scotland with DDogs.

DDogs will be sleeping in the car overnight. DDog1 (WCS) will be fine but DDog2 (StaffieXwhippet) is very thin skinned and feels the cold. She will be utterly miserable if she's not warm enough, but we are loathe to leave her at home as it's a perfect dog friendly holiday.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to the best way to keep her warm? Within reason cost isn't an issue, but her rather odd body shape means that "off the peg" jackets etc don't fit terribly well.

She is gorgeous, her little face , which is saying feed me or love me, preferably both. 😃

This lady on ebay does fleecy jumpers that are like equafleece (not sure if she does the ones including legs) but are custom made to measure and a fraction of the price. I'm not on commission but I ought to be, I've got several pieces for my oddly shaped mongrel and it's definitely doggy approved!

I buy old sheepskin coats on eBay for my dogs’ beds. Cut the sleeves off and open them up, same with the rest of the coat to make several flat bits. Really warm in winter, cooling in summer, wick moisture away. And can be popped in the washing machine.

Wont the dogs keep each other warm? (Sorry, cat person here so unsure of the deal with dogs!)

I’d buy something from Hurtta, it’s a Finnish company who do very precise sizing, you might find something from them, I managed to get my very oddly shaped dog a coat from there.

Ooh, have you got one of those fold out camping pods, I'd love one of those.

Me too. I keep looking at the website . Are they as good as they look ?

I sleep in the van when in the hills for weekends and my hound is with me. She has an equafleece, I phoned up and spoke to someone and they were brilliant, measured her up and it fits really well. It is also really warm.

In summer she is OK, she sleeps on her blankets and is off the floor of the van on the seat, (sighthound, wouldn't dream of being on the floor anyway!). In colder months she has her equafleece and her blankets and she is fine.

If you're having days in the hills I'd be more concerned about making sure you have a way of warming her up once you get back. If it gets cold and wet she will struggle to get warm as you warm the car up so bear that in mind. For me, I use lots of towels to rub down then i stick her in a dog robe or a second equafleece. You may want more than one (or pyjamas which mine won't tolerate) as a dry option in case you've used the original through the day.

If you know anyone who knits or crochets they could make you a made to measure doggy jumper possibly. I knit, SIL crochets and we've both made dog clothing in the past. Surprisingly easy to make up, and could be done to your lovely dog's exact measurements.

I only opened this to se why the dog was sleeping in a car...

But I really want to see a picture of a dog curled up in bed wearing pyjamas!

Heated sleeping bag would be a good shout. They run off a power bank.
