Dog ashes

We are getting our dogs ashes back today and just wondering what we can do with them.
What did you do with your dear pets ashes?

I went over the top with (sorry my cat not dog) making a cat shrine, it made me feel better. I put her ashes inside a hollow Goddess statue and bought all kinds of things from etsy like rainbow bridge candle light holders and a little plaque with her name on.
A year later they are all still there on my sideboard, she was cat number 6 and I have 2 more now but I still love and miss her, she was my best friend.
I intend to have her ashes scattered with mine when the time comes.

A cat again. I had an urn painted with her portrait and put the ashes in that. I keep it in a cabinet along with some mementos and her photo.

My SIL has her dogs ashes in the kitchen where he used to hang out.

My MIL buried the ashes in the garden.

Oh, I also used some of the ashes to have rings made for me and DD2. DD1 didn’t like the idea, but I like to have my lovely cat with me on some special occasions.

Our childhood dog who we lost, gosh, maybe 17-18 years ago we buried the ashes in the garden and put a plant on top. When we moved house we dug it up and it’s still happily growing now.

More recent losses, we have photo frames that have a box on the back with a space for the ashes.

Dd had a locket with sown of ddog's and dcat's ashes in.
Some of ddog's are scattered in our favourite holiday places so she is with us when we go back.. Some buried in the dunes where she loved. And some in my bedroom where she was never allowed!

We went back to our old house where she'd spent the best days and we scattered them on our old dog walk. I now think of her running around up there chasing rabbits.

One of My Ddogs ashes are scattered where we use to walk her .
My other dogs are in a wooden casket on my sideboard .
However I never really intended to keep his ashes but the vets put them in a sealed container so I can't scatter them otherwise they would have gone to his favourite walking places to

At some point I want to take his ashes to all his favourite places and walks and scatter them.

He’s still sitting on a shelf in our living room at the moment (he died 3 years ago). I kind of feel that his favourite place was with us, so I’m not quite ready to let them go yet. Plus, when the weather is shitty, I don’t like the idea of him outside in the cold.

My darling dog died 2 years ago and her ashes are sitting on a shelf in the dining room . I know I should scatter them down the river where she loved but I also know I will cry my eyes out so that's why they are still in the dining room .

Thanks all for your lovely ideas and so sorry for your losses.
We are thinking either scatter them on the fields he used to go walking or having a plaque with his name on putting in the wall in the garden and putting the ashes under. Not sure yet

We lost our old boy a year ago and I put his ashes in a big plant pot. We chose a flowering shrub to plant in it to attrach bees and butterflies. It's outside the room I work in so I look at it every day. I put a few spring bulbs around the bottom in the autumn too.
I found getting his ashes back really difficult. Go easy on yourself today

We have a pretty little urn with our small dog's ashes in; it's on a bookshelf next to a lovely line drawing of a similar terrier. Also in the same room, out of sight and awaiting scattering decisions, are my mum and dad. I like to think of small dog keeping them company of an evening.

When I got my ddogs ashes back I decided to let him go where he wasn't allowed. So he spent 1 night on the dining room table, 1 night in each of the kids bedrooms, and an evening on the sofa. We then took him and scattered him on his favourite walk.

The first dog's ashes I buried in the garden, after they spent a week by my bed. But when I moved house a decade later, I dug up a bucket of earth from the spot, as I didn't want to leave him. I bought a proper casket for the earth. Dog number two's ashes are in the casket from the pet crematorium. Both are in my room under my dressing table.

I have all my cats and dogs ashes still in the boxes they were returned in. They’re in my living room I can’t bring myself to scatter them I’d like to keep them with me.
You can get lovely pet ashes necklaces op, and I think bracelets too. You just put a tiny amount in and it’s a comfort having them so close.

Still have the ashes in the garage. He died in September.
I think I will scatter them at a beach as it was one of the few places he was never nervous.

I have a new puppy now, but still feel a bit stuck about not wanting to let go of his ashes, but can’t bear to have them in the house either, so they’re languishing in the garage. 😢

We’ve scattered ours on their favourite local walks.

Getting the ashes back did upset me a bit, but I didn’t feel particularly sentimental over the ashes themselves. I knew if I put them in the garden or in an urn or whatever I’d get very sentimental over that and would be screwed if we moved, or would end up over run with urns that I didn’t particularly want but couldn’t get rid of. I know that sounds heartless, but I prefer my memories and photos of them rather than a physical reminder.

We are scattering my mum's dog's ashes at the weekend in the same spot as my dad's ashes. It's a very beautiful spot on the moors with incredible views all around.

The last two that I lost their ashes are still, in the little boxes they came back in, in the sitting room on the cupboard next to the TV, they were both telly addicts.
All the others, eighteen of them over the years weren’t cremated & are buried in the garden , it’s a very big garden & they are under the old apple trees in the small orchard with a stone marking each grave. I plant flowers round them ( & still talk to them)

We had the ashes returned in a biodegradable urn and buried that in the middle of the little dogwood copse on our land. The dc had a little plaque made which we placed in the copse also.

I have exactly the same problem except I have lost 3 dogs in 2 years, and my dad that due to complicated family issues are all in my house. On top of my fridge 🤦‍♀️. I need to do something with them all but I have no idea what, it all feels too overwhelming and I don’t want to make the wrong decision. My dad was a bit of an indoor cat too so didn’t really have any favourite places, and I don’t feel like I can scatter the dogs with out my dad. So in conclusion, I don’t know but when you decide could you let me know maybe?

For my two old men dogs when they passed I bought beautiful vintage jewellery boxes to keep their ashes in. They are sat on the window sill in my bedroom with my small collection of trinket boxes. It’s been 2 years now and I still can’t scatter them. My eldest dd has told me not to worry about it and she’ll scatter them with me when the time comes 🤣
Their favourite place was with me so I don’t feel guilty having them in the house still.

Do what you feel is right for you. You don’t have to decide right away. Sorry for your loss Flowers
